When my dad installed Win XP he created several user accounts. Later I
deleted the other user accounts and changed the user name of the one
remaining account. Since the computer is also on a network I decided to do
the following: net user guest/active:yes.... and also control userpasswords2
and ok to no password needed. I did this because I couldn't see the computer
on the network... or I counldn't get to share filies and the printer.

The problem is that when we install a new program it run fine, but then when
we restart the new program no longer runs. It tries to boot and then an error
appears requesting that the program needs to be reinstalled. WHAT? It does
this every time the computer is restarted... no new programs will function.
WHY? The remaining account has full previliages like admin and needs no
password. Yet a password is requested on reboot so I just hit enter and it
moves on. Just what is going on here?

First i'd create a new account,then see how new account reacts,if ok,delete
other accounts. Before running new account, try going to run, type:cmd In cmd
type:Sfc /Scannow When utility starts install xp cd,exit the info page. When
its thru type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,then type:EXIT Restart computer
remove xp cd.
