When I click Windows update, a webpage opens showing the updates needed on
my computer. When I click "Install", it starts for a few seconds, then a
dialog appears saying:
"Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience... etc."

Please help me on this.

Windows Update Fails:
Disable your anti-virus when obtaining the updates.
Make sure that your firewall is allowing the connection to Windows Update .
This would be on ports 80 and 443.
