i have windows prof and am unable to play a dvd movie.
i have been told to reinstall the dvd cd that came with
the system. it has been over two years and i am unable to
locate cd. i also have been told to purchase windvd
software. that's 50 bucks.. can i download software to
achieve the same function?? if so, how would i identify
and perform the download. i'm, pretty much computer
illiterate so would need detailed info. thx

If you know the name of the sofware then you can go to manufaturer's website

Due to licensing costs only an open source MPEG-2 decoder would be free.
Anything else you see is likely pirated.
