Two two-way splitters will each divide the amplitude of the incoming signal
by two, subtracting about 3 dB, so you would have
0 dB +--------> -3 dB
------| +----> -6 dB
+---|
+----> -6 dB
One three-way splitter will divide the amplitude of your incoming signal by
3, subtracting about 4.8 dB from each output, making
0 dB +--------> -4.8 dB
------|--------> -4.8 dB
+--------> -4.8 dB
So which to use depends on whether you have a device that's particularly
sensitive, and whether you already have one of the above. If you change the
level to your cable modem, they may have to adjust it, but in my case
there's a frequency filter before the cable modem, to filter out the TV
data. Make sure you do any changes _after_ the computer splitter (NOT the
filter).
