I am running WinXP Pro. When I Open Windows Explorer, 'My Documents' is expanded. I do not want this. Is there a way in XP to to keep 'My Documents' collapsed when I open Explorer. I have also checked Xteq Systems tweak program for a setting for this with no luck.
Thanks

Right-click on the Windows Explorer shortcut, and go to Properties. Change the target path to read ...

C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,c:\

... and the shortcut will open the root of the C: partition when double-clicked (or when single-clicked, if the icon is on the Quick Launch Toolbar), with the My Documents folder still collapsed under your screen name.

Thank You, that was what I was looking for. I did drop the c:\ at the end so my 'C' would not expand - I want all collapsed. Where did you find this tip - if you don't mind telling ? But, thanks again.

I had to search, because I couldn't remember off-hand (made the change a couple of years ago), but this site covers most of the switches that can be used with the shortcut:

The Elder Geek website can be a very helpful place to visit!

It might be 'complicated' only once. Now I only have to click once on the Explorer quick launck icon to see what I want.
