Hello, peeps! I posted the same question to /r/MouseReview, but would like to hear your thoughts too. They recommend the X2V2.
___

My MZ1 started exhibiting a problem wherein the RMB gets sticky when pushed too hard. I have found some advice on fixing it, but thought I would also take the opportunity to look for a potential replacement.

The MZ1 is probably the best mouse I've ever owned, but it's not perfect. While the extremely low profile is awesome for my fingertip/claw grip, the mouse is far too narrow for my taste, making me lose control over it during flicks. I've tried putting on some grip tape, but it didn't take long for it to peel off during summer, which could be partly attributed to the holes in the shell. The plastic around the holes also started cracking from the excessive pressure I was putting on it while trying to control it.

Looking at the market right now, I noticed that, compared to 2022, there are now a lot more mice available that are lighter, have better quality internals and full shells without holes and you don't have to break the bank for them. Curiously enough, the MZ1 I bought for $90 two years ago now sells for $130 (sheesh).

With that aside, I would very much appreciate your opinions. Details below.

___

Hand size and grip style: 18,5 x 10,5 cm; fingertip/claw-grip

Previous experience with mice

  • Mad Catz R.A.T. 3 - my first gaming mouse, very wide (87 mm) with a thumb-rest, rather comfortable in my hand
  • Logitech G203 - incompatible with my grip style, sides that slope inward made my hand cramp and the mouse felt very unstable during quick movements
  • Glorious Model O - too large to fingertip; the hump limited up/down movement severely
  • Razer Viper mini clone - OK size; I held the mouse with my fingers resting in the middle of the buttons where the are no grooves and side buttons were too far-forward when held this way, so I either had to move my hand forward or rotate the mouse to activate them
  • MZ1 - perfect height; a bit too narrow for my taste
Replacement requirements
  • available in Europe
  • $100 with shipping at most
  • wireless
  • lighter than MZ1 (62 g)
  • wider than MZ1 (59 mm)
  • grippy coating; I'm not against using grip tape
  • little to no RGB
  • minimal perforation on the shell
  • additional buttons (the more, the merrier - I remap my DPI button to Enter for example)
  • don't care about 8K polling rate

Market research

I've looked into the options I have and prepared a small overview. I am located in Europe, but converted the prices to USD for your reading pleasure. The price includes shipping. Mice are sorted from the cheapest to the most expensive.

MouseWidth (mm)Weight (g)Price ($)Notes
Darmoshark M3s635458cheap option, looks too long
X2H Mini625264currently on sale on Pulsar's website, very appealing choice
Darmoshark M5 PRO573867even narrower than the MZ1 but with a shape specifically made for fingertip
X2A Mini615585has extra side buttons! considerably more expensive than the X2H Mini
Scyrox V8633690very interesting choice; much wider and lighter
HITSCAN Hyperlight613999impressive specs, not sure about the shape; pricey
___

TL;DR: I want a more modern replacement for the MZ1 that is both wider and lighter and costs $100 max.
