"You feel Moloch is well-pleased"

Was playing a monk, and for the first time got upto the quest level,
where there is an alter to Moloch. I found this a little odd, but
figured this was as good a place as any to make some unholy water, as I
hadnt come accross any other non-aligned alters. I pray on the alter
(however due to type I hadnt dropped any water on the alter), and I get
the message "You feel Moloch is well-pleased", which I found very odd.
Why would he be pleased with me? I then place water on the alter and
pray again, get unholy water with the more usual "Huan Ti is
displeased". Any explination as to why Moloch was pleased with me? Is
this standard behaviour?

A follow up to this message, I started sacrificing a few Xorns, just
to see what happened, not expecting to convert it (as I thought it was
impossible), when I get this message...

'Your sacrifice is consumed in a burst of flames! You sense a conflict
between Huan Ti and Moloch. You feel the power of Huan Ti increase.
The alter goes black. The voice of Moloch booms: "Thou shalt pay for
thy indiscretion!" The horned devil of Moloch appears before you'

If this alter acts like any other alter, and its possible to convert
it (unlike the one in the valley of the dead, which I understood was
impossible to convert), is it possible for it to convert you?

Tested it in wiz mode, and it must be a bug, because you can pray to it
as many times as you want (I did 10 in a row), and always got the "You
feel Moloch is well-pleased" message. But as soon as you do a water
prayer, and get unholy water, then every time after that that you pray
on the alter will annoy your god. Yay, I guess I found a bug!

No, it's not.

I don't know how you'd feel Moloch was well-pleased, it might be a bug,
might not.

The unaligned altars on the Monk quest can be converted because they're
not in Gehennom/VotD, and so are still within your god's reach.
