All the people that bitch about every new windows UI style, are almost always the same people stubbornly holding on to the exact same OS when newer versions are out. Thats what happened with xp and now 7.

Its almost always down to the total inflexibility of allot of PC users. You can change the damn colour of it on win 10, but some people just wont be happy unless it looks exactly like it did in in a certain era of their life when things made sense.

Oh look...the fully command line Windows server is back. And has been for 8 years
Server Core. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh846323%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

Diesel is the same thing btw.... and electric no it's not an option here when it goes -30 in the winter....

Windows 7 and windows 8, 1 are even worse than windows 10.... My point here was saying that MICROSOFT creates crappy ui and bad design....

I never said I wanted the old one back and I never said it was better either. I am saying if Microsoft is designing a new UI.... maybe they should have the WOW factor so people stay on the windows ship.

What ? Its a UI, its not intended to WOW anyone. Its there to do a job, in windows 10 it does that well.

I wish you were right, but the insane amount of problem with windows is laughable. I guess that's why sites like these are being used so much.

but yea.... eventually there is always a solution.

You mean the problem with all software? Like the reason why iOS or Mac OS get patches with bug fixes or new versions that not only include features but also fixes for issues?

Or even linux?

Software is inherently flawed, hence why there are always patches for all software that ever has come out.

Like I said, there are always problems, especially to a OS running on so many different hardwares. That's for sure. And like I said there is eventually always a solution.
But when it's a 100% microsoft product its a bit harder to understand: http://www.gottabemobile.com/2016/03/29/9-surface-pro-4-problems-fixes/

Also, another thing microsoft is failing to is to address the crap ware on so many PCs which kills the windows experience. It's not my case since i build my own pc... but still a huge problem when so many ppl come see me with their new computers.

Most of the people who complain about windows weren't around before it, its always been there for them. For half my life there wasn't even a PC as it hadn't been invented yet... damn, makes me feel old.

@ToineF
You're opinions are your own of course, everyone has one on windows 10 that comes to these forums. But personally dont think anything you have posted makes any sense what so ever.

You can't blame Microsoft for the things you are doing. Microsoft doesnt pick software that goes out with OEM machines. Thats up to the OEM.

What doesn't make sense exactly? The fact that I find windows 10 ugly? Or you are just trying to sneak an insult here?

As for the OEM, I know how it works. But Microsoft should do a better job at keeping an eye on this and authorizing what can be pre-installed and what can't. The crap ware installed by the OEMs slow down the computers and they are very annoying and Microsoft gets blamed for it. Seriously the OEM are out of control with this, but the good news is that I have the feeling they are starting to do something about it.

I'm not going to go back over everything you and others have said. But mainly your stating its badly designed, when clearly it isnt by any measurable sense.

And please give it a rest with the accusations of insults in a perfectly civil post, just just makes you seem even more unreasonable.

Again, for the OEM stuff, OEMs do that to allow cut price machines. Anyone selling any machine of most platforms can sell it in any configuration they wish, and with what ever software they wish. Its not up to Microsoft to police it just because one component on that entire machine was made by them.

Have you noticed there are two ways to access settings now. You go in settings and control panel. Sometimes the option is in both sometimes not. It's not user friendly at all. But we are getting off track here. I was just saying it's not well design and they really need to step up their game and get something nice going otherwise they will loose even more people.

I work in IT and in this company (most) new employees have the choice between a mac and a pc. I have NEVER met anyone asking to work with a pc (besides IT ppl of course), they all want macs.

As for myself I prefer windows for the hardware flexibility and obviously the software I use are mostly on windows, but it doesn't change the fact that it should look way better.

I work in IT and we don't let anyone use a Mac here because controlling it and the networking options are extremely inferior to Windows and PCs. We can control most anything using AD on a Windows based PC.

Sometimes you have to show people the better option instead of letting them chose. The people pick Mac because it is stupid simple. It is designed to be as simplistic as possible and to be the same, which is funny as their commercial in the 80s was all about being different. How times have changed.

I think the problem here is you keep using the word "fact" when what it is is your opinion. I personally think 10 looks great and is just as easy to use as 7. I though 8 was OK looking but that is again opinion. There is no facts as to some it works and some it does not. Much like the ribbon interface for 8 and newer for Windows Explorer. I like having more of the options in front of me, some like the classic menu design.

Microsoft are in the ongoing process of moving items to the 'settings' app. Windows 10 is not a final release type product, more of an ongoing evolving operating system. And its hardly unintuitive or bad design if you can find an option in both places you look. It is not automatic bad design if you have an option in two separate places. And that is a minor complaint at best.

The days of one big OS release are now over for windows, and so maybe are service packs going forward in favour of rolling development.

Personally I think OSX is god awful, and the Ubuntu desktop (unity) I use at work looks old and out of date along side my windows 10 machine. And functionality wise is cumbersome and often slow.
These are opinions and thus I am not presenting them as facts.

The Ubuntu release-upgrade in my experience is 10 times more likely to have issues than the windows 10 upgrade. People are so used to Windows they just turn minor things into massive issues. Its silly. And people seem to blame microsoft for things they have no control over.

And for the record, the live tiles in server 2012 r2 are actually useful. They can show realtime info at a glance via the start menu. Horrid start menu for desktops (windows 8), but works well for a server.

Like I said, I personally prefer windows for all the reasons I listed before.

But to be honest, you can control a mac with OpenDirectory just fine. As a matter of fact you can have them login to the computer using their Active Directory account (like we do here) and with the OpenDirectory we control the computer like forcing a screensaver after 10 minutes for example (same as AD). It's very flexible in that matter.

Mac has a real command line terminal (UNIX based) way superior to windows... as a matter of fact microsoft realized that and were forced to bring the Bash over to windows 10.
So yeah, MAC has it's flaws, but your Active directory argument is laughable.

i am sticking with windows 7 ive had nothing but problems with windows 10. Stuff on my computer randomly stops working. I hate the auto update. so i generally only use my laptop at work with my phone data for internet. the bill can sky rocket fast as it will just download crap. i really think microsoft has screwed up with this touch screen crap. Just make an OS like windows 7 for computers. a lot of people dont use touch screen and if i did i would not want to use windows to do it. Sadly i doubt microsoft will ever build an os just for computers.

but?? I have yet to use touchscreen at all on win 10 and been using it since August... and it is like Win 7, its based on a desktop design like all previous versions of windows. Its only if you open start up and some other menus that you realise its not win 7.

The times for an OS just for computers is officially over. No more money into it and the market share is shrinking. It will never really go away, but it will find a niche market and that's where it's going to settle in my opinion.

Microsoft made a touch OS because they panicked with the arrival of tablettes. They even had to back track on their windows 8. I think windows 10 is an 'ok' compromised... but still have a LOT of work to do to make it appealing.

I think Windows 10 is quite good. I don't care the UI since I can adapt quickly with a new design.
Except auto-arranging icons on desktop every time I run full screen games, I don't see any errors or bugs.

windows 10 is quite good and fluid for most parts... its just butt ugly!

Well, it looks fine for me though. I like the Search on the taskbar, and have been using it a lot.

After having tried it a lot of times and then going back to either 7 or 8.1 I can say Windows 10 is on the right path, it's a good compromise between the phone/tablet world and a PC OS. It will be a while(probably a couple of years) before it gets as stable and compatible as 7 and 8.1 but it'll get there.

For those who think windows 10 is ugly:
I used to think windows 10 was ugly when I upgraded from windows 7, but guess what? I adapted to the new UI. Now to me, windows 7 looks like crap. Use windows 10 solid for 1 month. Trust me, you'll start liking it.
Also, most of the time you're using software, so this shouldn't make a difference.

And you can always do this:
