Hi Guys,

I'm sorry to bother you today but i need huge help about my problem. Here it is, yesterday while i was playing with my friends on apex legend, the game's texture began to glitch and my pc frooze/crash and reboot in a short time. ( Pc of 4 years )

Now its like that on every game, and its very annoying ( excuse me i'm french so my english is not on point :'( ).

I checked the Windows Event Manager to see the bug check, Kernel Power Bug check Parameter 294 0x10 with this :

WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)
A fatal hardware error has occurred. Parameter 1 identifies the type of error
source that reported the error. Parameter 2 holds the address of the
WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure that describes the error conditon. Try !errrec Address of the WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure to get more details.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000010, Error Source Type
Arg2: ffff9b0ec2ace028
Arg3: ffff9b0eb518eaac
Arg4: ffff9b0eb54161a0

I immediately saw Genuineintel and disabled all overclock.
I'm on stock now for Ram and Cpu and Gpu my driver are updated.
Reset CMOS too, I've maybe missed a driver but i don't know.

My config :

IntelCore I5 7600k
MotherBoard Asus Z170-A
Corsair Vengeance 3200 Mhz 16 Go DDR4 ( Changed last month )
Nvidia GTX 1060 OC 6 Go Armor
Samsung SSD Nvme 1 To 980 EVO PLUS
COOLER MASTER 750 W
Water Cooling Corsair H60 Hydro Series

This happen only while i'm gaming, i've done stress test like Aida64 Occt, Memtest, Prime95, Intel Core Cpu support, all sort of thing but my hardware kinda pass all the test without problems or errors.
My temp are not going more than 60/70 ° in extrem stress test.

I'm lost and this is my only pc, if someone with the same issues managed to solved it is here it would be cool ^^.

Thanks in advance.

T3Nat

Coolermaster is the brand of the PSU while 750W is the advertised wattage of the unit. What is the model of said unit? As for your issue, what BIOS version are you on for your motherboard? What version(not edition) of Windows 10 are you on?

Hi thanks for the answer,

My psu is this one : Cooler Master G750M 750W
My BIOS Version on the Z170 A is 3802
and my windows 10 version is 21H2

caused by Nvme drive/driver - could be either

either the driver itself or the drive
its telling you
storport.sys - storage port driver
stornvme - nvme driver

most whea errors aren't so obvious

are you using Samsung Nvme drivers?
here under driver - https://semiconductor.samsung.com/consumer-storage/support/tools/

i would run magician on drive and check diagnostics if it works with a Pro.

I tried to download the nvme driver but when i click on it its say " the Nvme express driver is not connected "
I can't lauch magician with the new update its say " Failed to initialize application "

I guess it could have caused error. Windows clearly knew it was an nvme since it was running nvme drivers, but the bios thinking its sata may have caused the conflict. Though strange it took 2 months to happen. I would have expected it sooner if that was it.

sata? thats not going to help but i don't think it would cause error. I have been wrong before.

I have sent dumps to a friend, he can answer some of the questions I had.

try running the trial of this, it will at least show SMART scores reported by drive. Can't run any tests on it - https://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_sentinel_trial.php

see if the samsung software installs now

Thanks for the answer,

I did the test/scan and it result with perfect health, no problem with the ssd.

I still can't lauch Magician tho.

tried installing nvme drivers? i know Magician would ask for drivers to be installed before it could test anyway.

yesterday while i was playing with my friends on apex legend, the game's texture began to glitch and my pc froze/crash and reboot in a short time. ( Pc of 4 years )

software not perfect, if there is a physical problem it might not see it.

could run chkdsk I guess
open command prompt (admin rights)
type chkdsk c: /f and press enter
2 paragraphs will pop up, agree to run at restart
restart PC, on an nvme it won't take long to run it.

that will mark any bad areas of drive so windows won't use them.

I did the command and reboot, my c drive <as scan but when i entered my desktop nothing return i guess nothing wen wrong in the scan.
I will download the ssd nvme firmware for the 980 Evo plus and see what i can do with it

980 evo plus doesn't exist, you mean a 970 evo plus? there is a 980, a 980 pro or a 970 evo plus.
some times they advertise the 980 as a 980 evo but its not, I also seen it advertised as a 980 evo plus
https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/nvme-ssd/?ssd

do games still crash after a while?
I have a 980 sorry for the mistake, an 1 To version

hope you downloaded right firmware

All the software can't really tell if there is something physically wrong with drive.
WHEA is a hardware error. It can be caused by drivers, so did you manage to get drivers to see the nvme?
if Samsung software won't run on a Samsung drive, it is probably a clue.

We can wait for my friend to read dumps but all its going to show extra is drivers running at time, your report is more or less what he would show me.

If it was my drive I would be copying anything off it you can't afford to lose. Just in case.

It may have been because BIOS had wrong setting but i feel that would have caused errors before now. You can get sata m.2 so I am unsure what it changes apart from transfer speed. I am not sure if windows has a driver it uses for sata m.2 instead of the one it used. it was using a stornvme driver, its how I knew cause. Its so rare for WHEA errors to tell me that much.

Thé firmware dosn't work i will try to make it work and see if there us an issue with the driver
I will copy my data juste in case

PSU have been known to kill drives before, i killed about 3 using a bad PSU but that was over 15 years ago now.
I am not sure how good that one is, Power Supplies isn't something I know enough about.
Could be problem, since its 4 years old now. It wasn't a high end model to begin with - https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/cooler-master-gm-750w.1644542/

one error isn't enough for me to say its PSU when the error is pointing at NVMe

you could buy a cheap hdd and install windows on it to see if problems continue. It would tell you if its nvme or something else. the restarts I mean.
