So if they get it out by Christmas it will be on Newegg by February?

>: D

A direct translation of currency doesn't always do the job, though. In some countries computer hardware is just more expensive relative to their own currency.

Doh! Meant crossfire ofc...

Yep...thats what I meant by 'Ofc prices in AUS run higher to begin with.'... 😉

so before this it was october now it is before the end of this year? before long this will going to turn into another Fury X. i still remember when nvidia launch 980/970 they say amd will counter them "soon" saying that we will get something new by the end of 2014. when that did not happen we hear about something new in february. in the end Fury X did not coming out until june 2015.

Yeah, it was just a rumor I read somewhere. But it would be nice if they pulled it off. Just a wait and see game, but officially, all I have seen is "early 2017" and "Q1 2017". The waiting game gets old pretty old, pretty fast.

At least it's not the same debacle as the phantom 960ti, LOL.

I don't recall Nvidia announcing a 960Ti, when did that happen?

They didn't, but that didn't stop the rumor mill and people talking about it...

There were so many times I saw people telling other to "wait for the 960ti, which will be out soon, instead of buying card XXXX". The debacle was on the rumor mill, not nVidia.

At least we know Vega is coming, just a matter of when.

with 960Ti most of them are speculation. i have been following GPU story quite close and as far as i remember there is no concrete rumor talking such card exist. people only expecting 960Ti exist because there is large gap between 970 and 960. and then there is one guy trying to simulate 960Ti performance and config. some people take this as a prove to 960Ti existence when all he did is try to simulate 960ti.

it doesn't compare to the official respond from AMD when they were ask about 980/970 competitor, that india firepro ad and captain jack. i just don't know where people got it that AMD will launching something completely new in february 2015 because i see no rumor being reported but just pure rumor that coming from forums.

I never thought they'd make a 960Ti. They make more money by having people jump up to the 970. More people jump to the 970 than stay down at the 960.

The Vega timeline was always late 2016 to early 17. Just rumors pointing towards the early and late part of that window. Guess you (as a rumormill clickbait site) have to use all the plausible launch dates to get the most clicks out of each piece of upcoming tech.

well actually some people are really convince that Vega will be coming out october that claim anyone buying 1080/1070 probably making a bad decision not waiting for Vega first.

*face palm* if history has been any lesson for us, Vega will probably be delayed until Q1 2017. Then once it hits March, people will be going, "Where is Vega?" Then in May, Q2, Vega will probably be announced. It'll come out late July. Real availability will be mid August.

I'd say one year.

I hope this is just "worse case senario". I doubt AMD could withstand being that late with their upper end GPU's. The market share and profit loss would be atrocious. While the 480 is in the "sweet spot" of mass sales, it's the upper end products that create the buzz that people respond to. It's that whole "if they have the fastest, then the one I can afford must be great too" mentality...

AMD probably will be in less trouble if they just make polaris 10 faster to begin with (matching or exceeding nvidia 980Ti performance). to be honest i hope AMD did not repeat the same mistake that Rory Read did back in 2012-2013.

I think the 480 is in a pretty good spot price/performance -wise, But I think it was named wrong. I think AMD would have been better off calling the 480 the 470, and bump the 3 Polaris GPU's down a level in the product stack. This would have left more room for higher performing cards without resorting to XX5 nomenclature. But they are what they are and I think driver refinements will likely close the gap between the 480 and 1060...but I'm not holding my breath.

It will be very interesting to see how Vega performs and I'm wondering now if they are still refining the GPU architecture or if it is in production and they are just building drivers for it.

I think they intended to get $229 to $249 all along cuz the only $199 cards would mostly be bottom binned, poorly cooled, 6 pin power knee-capped reference models that most enthusiasts (aka 80% of their targeted customers) would avoid like the plague. Don't get me wrong...they work as advertised all day...but their main purpose was so AMD could shout from the mountain tops to world+dog that they had a good card that could handle maxed 1080, medium 1440, some 4K and MOST importantly is 'VR capable'...all for only $199. Imo that's the sole purpose of 'forced' reference model cards...marketing bait. Then AMD says...Whats this? Extremely limited supply and poor availability? For weeks/months (while we make bank selling the initial runs to Apple & Co.)? Just so happens we have another gpu that is 90% as fast and available now!...but it'll cost ya. Imagine that. U see where I'm going...lol Ok... /rant

they will close the gap when more amd hardware feature being use. i already heard the upcoming SM6 maybe will incorporate more feature from AMD architecture. intel graphic engineer mentioned that the said feature will not going to fit well with intel and nvidia architecture.

as for Vega i think AMD is waiting for HBM2.

Would love to hear some feedback on cfx. Hope you enjoy! :)

I hope not, HBM made a noticeable difference at 4K it still was not enough as 4GB was still not acting like much more than 4GB. But with more bandwidth and more RAM, I think the performance should be there. this GDDR5X really would be a let down considering AMD pulled off HBM once already.
