Question Any advice or recommendations on upgrading motherboard

Hello! New member here. Please be gentle with me cause I'm not the best when it comes to computers and parts, I just like to play games on them. I'm hoping to get some advice on upgrading a motherboard or if anyone has recommendations on what I should get because I honestly don't know. I do know that I have a mini ITX cause of my case size so I think I need to stick with a mini ITX but beyond that, I don't know what motherboard would be good for the parts I have.

THE REASON for upgrading is because i think my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU. On games like Dying Light, my CPU usage is at 100%, even when lowering everything I can lower. I just want to be able to play games without my computer slowing down tremendously or the game crashing.

Specs:
Motherboard: Z170M-ITX/ac
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super (This was an upgrade that was gifted to me a year or so ago)
Memory: 2 sticks RAM - 16GB DDR4-2400 UDIMM 1.2V CL17
Operating System: Windows 10
PSU: High Power 80 plus ATX 600 w Switching power supply Model: HPG-600ST-F12S

Thanks.

Not sure I trust that PSU completely. Apparently something Cyberpower PC used to ship commonly, it is low end in terms of efficiency and maybe mid-grade in terms of quality.

What you get as replacements depends on what you have to spend.

i5-6400 (4c/4t) can easily be replaced with a cheap i3 (4c/8t) (equivalent to the i7 that you could get to drop in your board, but higher clock speeds and cheaper).

Or you can get a contemporary i5 with 6c/12t.

You have an ITX board now, is that maximum size for your chassis? They can be quite expensive.

Yeah, I think the maximum size is an ITX unfortunately.

I would probably go with something like this. Maybe add an NVMe SSD.

The motherboard may not accept the CPU without a BIOS update. So you might have to take it to a shop to get it flashed with a 12th gen CPU. Or you can opt for 12600K or 12600KF for a little more (they are basically the same thing) (F indicates no onboard video)
