[citation][nom]CIB24[/nom]I think it's a great idea. There is far too much piracy in games on the PC and despite the fact that it alienates 1-5% of PC gamers, I believe this should be a step that more and more publishers adopt when releasing games on the PC. This type of system could give more incentive for developers to create or port good games to the PC again and reverse the dying trend.[/citation]
Ubisoft employee are you?
The pirates will crack it and only the paying public (of which I will not be a member and I won't warez/torrent it either) will be trampled on by this.
I "WAS" interested in buying this game. With all this DRM crap in it I won't.

I doubt very much that the "alienated PC gamers" are as low as 1-5%. It is much more likely to be up around 70%+ or more. And since I won't give MS or Sony any more of my money I won't be buying console versions either.

No sale here.

sounds more malware/privacy concern to me. who knows what data is being sent back to ubisoft server when the game is constantly phoning home to the mothership. do i hear class action lawsuit against ubisoft in the future?

This is a natural step in the right direction. No more activation limits or other disc in the drive silliness. Just use it on as many PCs or laptops, or friends' computers or whatever. Only one place at a time plays. That respects Fair Use so much better while still protecting the reason ($) for the developer to make more for you. So what if the game pauses because the Internet goes out. That's great! Then I'll know that something I cared about more broke. Not like I wanted to continue playing without saving my game. I love being able to save games in the Steam cloud to pick them up on another machine. A hacker might be able to mimic a simple online check, but it's a tall order for pirates to ask for the same cloud saving capabilities. Seriously, if you are in the woods and complaining that you can't play AC2, either enjoy a hike outside unplugged or spend some money to upgrade your Internet before you buy AC2.

Lol like they wont crack this one up either... I bet there will be a pirated edition of the game in the first 5 days of its release.

Well they will not be getting my money, i can live with out big brother video game company. really this is want drives cracking games in the first place...silly people.

well, it looks like this will be one of those games that everyone will crack, whether they have a pirated copy or not. ubisoft, you're not so much preventing piracy as you are giving the crackers something to do and wasting everyone elses time.

[citation][nom]that_aznpride101[/nom]don't blame the company, blame the freakin' pirates who make PC gamers' lives miserable[/citation]

When companies use DRM at this level of ridiculous it causes buyers to get frustrated and START pirating because otherwise their computers and game-play are messed up.

if you take a look at the situation its easy to see why this happens.
The big corporate companies only have idiots working for them. They have no hope for designing an uncrackable DRM (... even a dificult to crack DRM).
The real geniuses are out there, not a part of the rat-race of greed, undoing 100,000 idiot hours of work in 2 days because a little light coding helps them fall asleep at night.

I guess they saved money by cutting DX10-11 features in order to spend it on fighting hackers. Next-day, there will be an offline version of A.S2 like how steam games are hacked. It is simple, if you like the game and want another one with more features and better graphics in the future, buy it!

as long as games have to be installed, they will always be pirated. Steam did not stop the piracy just in case some of you were wondering.

[citation][nom]mousemonkey[/nom]You have a licence for the PS3 version which is not transferable to the PC version, a simple concept that you do not seem able to understand. I suppose you feel that your driving licence (if you have one) allows you to fly a jet liner? after all it's a vehicle licence isn't it?[/citation]

Mousemonkey, you have done nothing by try to cause conflict in any of your posts. You suppose wrong.
A pilot's license is not the same as a driver's license, "a simple concept that you do not seem able to understand".
Right back at you, jackass!

Classy stuff..

Sometimes I'm without a net connection with my laptop, so not only do they dictate how I can play my game but where too.

Maybe next game they'll want to hold my dick while I play Assassins Creed

Actually let me save them the trouble by not buying another one of their games again.

IMO this action by ubisoft will not remedy the piracy instead it will fertilized it. for people that really want to play but don't want to get caught by the DRM hassle they will surely search for pirate copy. maybe even people with original copy will use crack to avoid the DRM

come to think of it..its DRM..
yup that will be cracked before official launch..
i have internet..but hey i hate game connected to hotwire...
hmmpphh Ubi just digging their on grave..
My pc has been upgrade just to stand to new Pc games..
But now...DX9?? it already on DX11..
Had to buy console then..arrrhhh..

Wow, that's a nice big middle finger to anyone who actually buys the game. All this is going to do is render the game unplayable to people, through no fault of their own. Guess who's going to take a big PASS on this game?
