This is just a warning to the community. I have a Surface Pro 3, installed the windows 11 Release preview on it some time ago. I only use local accounts, no online MS bs. I found my drive was encrypted with Bitlocker, when i tried to save the key it would not allow it. I was forced to sign in with my MS account, switch over all authentication to the online account. Once this was done the bitlocker key was backed up to my online account. Had i not found it was encrypted and it decided to lock up before I switched over all my data would have been destroyed. Which this is a test machine, if it dies it dies, however there is some data on it I don't want lost. Be on the look out Microsoft will encrypt your drive and not give you the key till you sign up for their crap.

Right.
This is mostly just a test box, but I've been thinking of updating it to Pro.
I was fortunate, this computer belonged to a business I did contract work for. They were done with it said they were going to trash it, touch screen was acting strange. When I asked they said I could have it. Reformated it, recalibrated the touch screen and its fine. It has windows pro licensing on it. Regardless of the version, Win 7, 10,11 etc, it gets the pro version. I am just glad I found that MS encrypted my drive before it decided to lock.
