So right now, I’m running my computer on a 60hz Samsung monitor and I’m looking to upgrade to a 144hz monitor, specifically the ASUS VG248QE that someone is selling locally for $160. He wasn’t able to find the DVI cable that initially came with it, but offered an HDMI cable that supports up to 600hz instead. I have a MSI B350M Bazooka motherboard so I was wondering if the HDMI port on my MOBO will support the 144hz monitor with the stated HDMI cable.

Solution
an HDMI cable that supports up to 600hz instead
there is no HDMI that can support 600hz on reasonable resolution. the newest HDMI, which is 2.0 only supports 4k at 60hz, while cheap HDMI1.4 cable out there only supports 24hz 4k. well, a 4k panel is 4 times 1080p, so do the math yourself for 1080p. that guy is certainly suspicious in how he tried to sell you the HDMI cable so maybe watch out for that. Also, get a display port if your GPU supports it. it's not expensive, and way better than HDMI.
