I have a Corsair RM750i 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply, I have owned it for 5 years now without any hiccups. I did a motherboard upgrade recently and this mobo of mine has an additional 4 pin ATX connector which is only used by "extreme" overclockers and only for extreme overclocking scenarios which I will never benefit from, my system right now runs fine without the extra power cable. But it just bothers me that a gap in my system isn't filled, so I'm thinking, maybe I can just buy a separate cable for that and just plug it into my current PSU. The question is, will my PSU be able to accommodate that extra cable, is there an extra slot on the PSU itself where I can plug that into? I'm a very picky person when it comes to my system lol.

Here's the link to my PSU for extra reference: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/psu...old-certified-fully-modular-psu-cp-9020082-na

Be very careful.

A small number of Corsair's cables look the same but are in fact wired up differently. If you buy the wrong cable, things can go BANG,

You need to check if your PSU is Type3, Type4 or Type5 and buy cables accordingly. See chart in link below.

Don't rely on third party sellers getting the description correct.

Most of the time Type 3 and Type 4 modular cables are interchangeable, but NOT always.

If you do buy a 4-pin EPS 12V cable, connect the PSU end, but don't plug the other end into the motherboard yet.

Switch on the PSU and use a multi meter to check the correct voltages (0V and +12V) appear on the appropriate pins for your motherboard. When you are confident the cable pinout is correct, power off the system and complete the connection.

Alternatively, save yourself the bother and don't upgrade the system for no good reason.
