Can't select 2560 x 1440 on Samsung S27A850D Help!

Just got a new HP Pavilion p7-1220 with a Samsung S27A850D, hooked it up with dual dvi and there is no choice for anything higher than 1920 x 1080 in the control panel. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, sometimes you have to install a driver for the monitor. I had to do this to a couple of old high res CRTs that I had even on Windows 7.

I've checked to make sure the dvi is dual and downloaded the drivers that came with the monitor

Did you ever found a solution, I have exactly the same problem.......

Im having a similar problem with a gtx 580 not giving me an option on a 4k tv. Someone said mess with the scaling options as the over/under scan may be the issue.

In my case, the problem was due to not having dual link DVI--only single link. Single link only supports 1920x1080. The tech spec posted on my retailer's site for my graphics card said it was dual-link DVI capable, but it is really only dual head capable via a DMS-59 connector, which Wikipedia says only supports single link DVI. Comparing the pinouts of DMS-59 and dual-link DVI confirms that it doesn't support the additional data lines needed for dual link.
