Question Computer can detect my external hard drive but it wouldn't open

I have attached a short video / gif of my computer detecting my external hard drive (lettered G) but when I click on the external hard drive, it refuses to open, the screen just remains blank or frozen and the cursor just keeps rolling until I pull the external hard drive out of the port. I would appreciate any suggestions you guys might have.

Can you check the driver and update it to latest or revert to older version if updated.

Device Manager > Disk Drives > Your External Drive > Right Click / Update Driver

Done that, it says the best driver for your device is already installed but it still wouldn't open
