Yesterday my computer suddenly stopped recognizing my external ssd (kingston xs 1000) whenever it is plugged into 3.0 ports with a 3.0 cable, 2.0 cable into 3.0 ports works and also 3.0 cable into 2.0 ports works, i have tried resetting my computer, reformatting the ssd, changing the cable and checking for driver updates, but none of those work, the ssd lights up normally whenever it is connected but doesnt get recognized, do you guys have any ideas? Thank you

This external ssd?

https://shop.kingston.com/products/xs1000-external-ssd?variant=43770020266176

As I understand your post the ssd works in other configurations excluding the current 3.0 cable.

Is my understanding correct?

You mention a 3.0 cable into 2.0 ports - is that the same 3.0 cable that was in use when the problem began?

Do any other USB devices, applicable) work using that same cable and/or ports?

Look in Reliabiity History/Monitor.

Any error error codes, warnings, or informational events being captured just before or at the times the Kingston drive fails to be recognized?

nothing usb related in error codes or information, its all just windows updates, the external ssd you linked is the one i have, works with 2.0 cables, doesnt work with 3.0 cables UNLESS it is plugged into a 2.0 port. I tried 2 cables(one completely new 3.2 cable) i even tried connecting my phone, even using it as a storage and that WORKED. None of them seem to be working when the situation is MY EXTERNAL SSD- 3.0 PORTS OF THE COMPUTER unless either the ssd is connected via a 2.0 cable OR the ssd is connected to a 3.0 cable going into a 2.0 pc port as mentioned, thank you for your time

I
Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Try running the built in Windows trouble-shooters. The trouble-shooters may find and fix something.

If that does not work then run "dism" and "sfc /scannow".

I have updated the post, i have ran the sfc scan, no integrity violations. Hp does have its own troubleshooting that you can do from startup, i have tried running the usb troubleshooting, but no luck since it didnt register the external ssd and said i needed to connect a device into the usb port even tho it was plugged in.
