I have an AMD A8 5500. What kinds of graphics cards is it compatible with?

Honestly its an 8 year old CPU so its not really up to modern game standards. If you want to play some basic games or older games then look for a used graphics card like a GTX 750ti, GTX 660ti, Radeon R9 280 or 290 etc.

Just be sure your power-supply is adequate for whatever card you choose.
