Difference between texture resolution and quality in game

Hi! This is probably a stupid question, but I'm confused about what the difference is between texture quality and texture resolution? What happens for example if I run a game with medium texture quality in settings, but with say 4k textures installed?

Hello... never a stupid question just some of our answers....the best way to play with Video settings is to watch/run a replay over and over with the different settings a few times... and you will start to notice things... and your graphics card fan will spin faster, get louder as it works harder too.
