I have a Huawei phone and three cables. It takes cable A a long long time to charge the phone, overnight and less than 60% charged. Cable B can finish the job in about 3 hours and cable A 1 hour.

These are done using the same phone and the same adapter. The only difference is the cable. Why such a big discrepancy?

Solution
There is a reason why smartphones come with their own cable within the box.

It's not like you cannot use after market cables but they must be high quality and support at least 2.4 A current to be able to charge your phone at qualcomm qc 3.0 speeds.

Now, since huawei uses their own processors in their smartphones, they does not follow qualcomm standards, so you should only use the original cable to charge your phone.

The same applies to oneplus smartphones as well.

They charge extremely fast but if you use any other adapter or cable, the charging speed drops to like 33 %.
