Have a read here. It explains it better than I could.
Basically we run our computers to help find cures for disease.

It is a 4.5 star rated game that does not work. lots of people have problems with up but star it up for the reason behind the game. Its a shame they cannot get game developers to donate time to making this work.

Anyone have better voltage control on a kepler card? My GTX 770 is plenty fast for me, so I was going to go the undervolting route. Apparently, while voltage can be moved +0.012, it can not be moved -0.012. Is there a way to do this? I don't need it (Stays under 65c) but it's nice to know it can be that fast, and insanely cool/quiet. I have 50mhz oc room on stock volts, I was hoping for maybe a full 0.05v lower vcore at stock boost. (1256mhz, over 1202 advertised.)

EVGA precision X works for most cards.
Although some vendors lock their bios. Then you need Nvidia Inspector to retrieve the bios and Kepler bios tweeker to modify it. Then NV Flash for windows to flash the new bios to the card.
In the old days is was pretty simple. With the new boost bios cards it can be a bit more trouble.

Yeah EVGA X only moves it up. I would flash, but I don't see a dual-BIOS on this card, and it isn't needed. I'll leave it as is.

Unfortunately, my health today decided to go South, and I will not be able to be a CC Captain this year. I'd like to see you elect a CC Captain, asap, and contact Axipher over at OCN for the required approval to register on the CC Captain's forum.

The sooner you get your representative into the mix, the better. It will be great having more and new racing teams, this year.

I'd recommend supporting multiple categories for the race, and each category can decide if they want their category to be raced with or without a handicap, (I favor the handicap, but it's not always best), using a specific target of points, or whatever.

I'm not a fan of EVGA's proposals, since they have favored EVGA so much in the past, when tested with actual data on a simulation. Be careful dealing with them.

It's been my pleasure getting to know you, folding with you, and racing with you, as well. All the best.

Hey guys, haven't been around for a while, been working a lot and getting prepared for imminent baby arrival!

Sold all my PC gear and my office is now a nursery, what joy

Just thought I'd say congrats on how well you are all doing and it's great to see so many new Folders in the game.

Beano will be back, keep up the good work :finger:

@adak - Hopefully you are well and hopefully we can organise a fun CC this year with minimal crying. Pipedreams.

@beano - Congratz on convincing the wife to turn the office into a nursery, must have been a hard sell. Awesome to see some new people in the top 20.

@ Everyone else - do we have someone who wants to step up to be the Toms Captain. Only through 3 pages of the 10 but it seems like they want more involvement from the other team captains as it is usually the big 3 that are discussing ideas. I know the big teams get competitive but it really needs to be more of a recruiting drive rather than a race for points.

:pfff: Fixed the italics. :pfff:

Nothing really. It and the OpenCL index are only for pointing to the correct card. Core 15 only uses CUDA (but has no QRB, so low points, and also coded and complied for an old version). Core 17 only uses OpenCL because it requires Just-In-Time compiling, which CUDA does not currently have built into the drivers (would need a bunch of extra software, so considered not practical for fah). If you could do CUDA on Core 17 it would get a decent bit better performance I've heard (you can see how much with the fahbench program, as it can do both OCL and CUDA).

Beano, I can help you with a couple of those. I'll use PPD from project 8900, as it is most consistent (9401 is both high and low depending on Run #).

780 ti, Stock, Latest Drivers, Linux - 210k PPD

7970/280X, 1050 Core, 14.1 beta 6 (a nice boost in performance from these drivers, definitely use), Win7 64 - 130k PPD

Hopefully others can help on the rest.

No one has really breached the topic of the CC race this year.
So I will be first to state my OPINION.

If we can use it for a recruiting tool with Toms Hardware's permission to spam(used loosely) the forums for recruits or a mention of some sort , it would be a good thing for the team and F@H.
My hardware is already running the MAX it can produce. So a contest that is won by increasing daily output could only be won with new folders.
I participated last year , but in the end it did not help our team here. And A lot of the teams were upset with the outcome.
We have our team reps already chosen and elected. You guys need to decide if we as a team want to participate.
If we can use it to attract new folders ,most will be temporary, some will be intermittent , and hopefully a few will be hard-core folders.

I've stated my views and thoughts on the matter ,hopefully others will state their positions and opinions.
So if we participate ,win-loose-draw, dosent matter as long as we raise awareness for F@H.
Rick

icraft, what drivers are you using? That seems a bit low for what i would expect.

I haven't said anything on CC because unfortunately these next few weeks are going to be really busy for me, and I won't be able to put in the time, research, and work required to make CC beneficial to our team or fah. My opinion is if we have someone who is inspired to take lead and has some good ideas, great lets do it. If not, there is no sense in forcing it. Like Unolocogringo, I'll be folding 100% regardless. And except for the small bump I've had recently from getting my 7970s going again, I don't see my PPD increasing anytime soon.

I'm out due to non technical reasons beyond my control.
