Question GeForce Experience doesn't record the Windows Desktop

Recently, I noticed that I no longer have the ability to record my Desktop through NVIDIA GeForce Experience. On Windows (on the Desktop), the recording status icon is missing. The Record/Start button does not initiate recording. Instant Replay can be enabled, but the Save (and Share) buttons are inactive.

After some troubleshooting, I have come to the conclusion that GeForce Experience "attachs" and allows recording only for:
* Full-screen applications (such as games) at any resolution.
* Windowed applications, BUT only if their resolution matches the Desktop resolution.

As an example (this applies to any graphics application or game): If, for instance, FurMark is launched in full-screen mode, recording becomes possible. If launched in windowed mode with the resolution matching the Desktop (2560x1440), recording is also possible. However, if the resolution differs from the Desktop resolution, recording capability is not present.

The desktop (Windows) specifically uses NVIDIA GPU Only (Display Mode). In practice, Desktop recording is possible if you start recording in the application (or game) window, minimize the game (or application), and save the recording — then everything will be captured.

Not sure that I understand the matter.

If the Desktop is static (nothing moving) then there is nothing to record as all it would be is a "screenshot".

You might be able to launch the recorder in the background via Task Manager/Startup or perhaps use Task Scheduler with some rule to trigger the recorder to record the desktop.

What are you trying to record on the desktop?

By the term "Desktop," I mean everything that happens on my computer screen, and that's what I want to record — not just games or graphic applications.
