tbh i gave the 6990 back
and got 2 shiny 6970s
i mean the 6970s were kinda loud under 100% load
but the 6990 is a boeing 747 parked on your desk
the only way to run those cards in crossfire without losing all your hair while having your pc turned on
is gpu waterblocks

I have a 6990 and I love it. I could've bought a 590 but I've always gone with the red team, and they haven't let me down yet.

Yes, it's loud; but you can't hear it over the 100W amp and Yamaha floorspeakers spewing out BF3. If you can hear your graphics card then you simply haven't invested enough in your sound system. Remember the old saying, "If the room ain't shakin', then you ain't Quaken".

Yes, it runs hot; pouring lava hot air inside my case. I've just turned one of my front fans around, and it does a great job of extracting the hot air. Problem solved.

I'm running a HP LP3065 1600p display, and don't have room in my Antec 1000 case for dual cards. I get a steady 50+ FPS on BF3 and Skyrim with most settings on max, though no AA. Imo you don't need AA at 2560x1600 anyway. In World of Tanks the detail on the tanks is unbelievable, you can see every bolt and rivet. Once you get used to 1600p, it's impossible to go back to 1080p. Half the pixels means half the detail, half the enjoyment imo.
