[SOLVED] High Settings = Cooler GPU

So the other day i was playing SEUM the hell speedrunners game
and i was getting some frame drops from 60 to 50 fps on ultra settings
and my temp was normal at around 40C-50C but when i lowered
the settings to lowest (just to see what fps i get) - i got 200 fps and like
30 secs after that my gpu sky rocketed to 60C-70C

Is there anyway to stop this from happening ?
wasn't lower setting supposed to make higher fps + cooler gpu/cpu ?
what if i cap the fps at 60 ?
 
Solution
Most GPUs have a target temp of 75C and even turn their fans off below 55C. It's pretty commonly agreed that anything below 80C is perfectly safe for GPUs
