So two weeks ago, after cleaning my pc and putting everything back together, I checked out my boot time and got 3.2 seconds, when the usual speed is 4.3 seconds. I didn't do anything but take everything apart and put it all back together.
Until this week, after buying an air compressor. I thought I'd give it a thorough dusting. After which, I put everything back together to sadly find a 4.3-seconds bootup time.

What in the heck happened? I know it barely makes a difference and I might be a speed-tramp, fair, but it's itching the back of my brain.

What changed? Nothing. No bios settings. Both scenarios ran off of AsRock's "ultra-fast-boot".

MOTHERBOARD - ASROCK H310CM ITX AC
CPU - INTEL I5 9400F
GPU - MSI RTX 2080 SUPER VENTUS
SSD - WD SN550 1TB NVME
RAM - GSKILL TRIDENTZ

Maybe you should put some of the dust back, it was speeding PC up? 😀

its such a tiny difference, how many times you want to take PC apart to gain 1 second? How much time you spend trying to get it back?

it must be within some margin of error, if its booting off an nvme its time to desktop is going to be near instant anyway, I know mine would be if I didn't have to enter pin.

you spent more time thinking about it than you lost really

FIRST OFF, THAT'S A GREAT THEORY, I MIGHT JUST PUT THE DUST BACK IN.

All jokes aside, fair, that's pretty much a "sometimes it be like that", and I think it's what I needed to hear.

mines 16.2 in bios, i should look at that after Xmas.

If its bios time, thats just how long it takes BIOS to hand control to windows, not a lot you can do about it.

OH CHRISTMAS SALE, IT'S 99 BUCKS

Yeah It's bios time. I just remembered the "bios" part in that sentence. Just did a count on button press to bootup. It's about seven seconds overall and I think I'm just gonna go with what I've got. hahah

I was tempted to suggest we remove that nvme and give you a 5400rpm hdd to boot off to appreciate how little 1 second difference really is. We still turn mums PC on and walk away while it starts up, and its only 4 years old. HDD is so slow.
