Windows 10 error 651 is a network card error that has occurred quite a lot for upgraders. Fortunately, it is one of the easier errors to tackle. If you need to fix Windows 10 error 651, here is what you need to do.
There are a couple of reason error 651 occurs, let’s take a look at each of them. The full error syntax will likely be something like ‘Connections failed with error 651’. For once, the clue to the cause of the error is in the title. In this case, ‘connection’.
I will assume you have rebooted your computer and your router if you have one and the error reappears.
Fix Windows 10 error 651
Error 651 is a network driver or hardware error and has occurred a lot with upgraders. Here are a couple of ways to address it.
1. Navigate to Control Panel, System and Security and System.
2. Click the Device Manager text link on the left.
3. Look for Network adapters and check for yellow triangles next to a network card. If there is a yellow triangle, right click the card, select the Driver tab and Update Driver Software. If there isn’t a yellow triangle, right click and select Disable. Then re-enable the card. Retry your connection.
If error clears, no need to continue. If the error reoccurs, try this:
1. Navigate to Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network and Sharing Center.
2. Select the Ethernet text link next to Connections.
3. Click Properties.
4. Make sure the box next to IPv4 is checked and the box next to IPv6 is unchecked. If you had to make changes, retest. If you didn’t, move on to the final step.
The final way that I know of to address error 651 is to reset TCP/IP and disable tuning.
1. Open a CMD window as an administrator.
2. Type or paste ‘netsh int ip reset reset.log’ and hit Enter.
3. Type or paste ‘netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled’ and hit Enter.
4. Reboot and retry.
One of those is sure to fix Windows 10 error 651. Hope they help!
