i have a spare pc and considering to use it it as an htpc.
the config:-
asus m4a78ltm le
athlon x3 440
2gb ddr3 ram
hd 4650 ddr2
i would like undervolt it as much as possible and increase power efficiency and less heat.
the mobo as quite a few options for voltages if some could guide me here it would very helpfull.

Athlon X3 440 ought to undervolt with the same process as my Phenom II X6, if I'm not mistaken, as they're both K10 processors. You should be able to use PhenomMsrTweaker in Windows, which I just put a guide up for in this post (scroll down a couple of responses): http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/317669-28-question-temps-1090-stock-clocks

With C&Q enabled an X3 Rana will generally run @1.1v 800MHz (4x200). This is generally in the 35-40w range. With the HW acceleration of you HD4650, this should easily handle all of your video needs. Not sure what the idle power-draw of the HD4650 is, but the 5xxx- and 6xxx-series are MUCH better.

Ultimately, it's the 'low-end' volts that will drive your stability (and power consumption). AMD specification for the X3 at the low-end is 0.85v (1.425v top end)

Simply start dialing back your VCore in 0.125v increments and keep an eye on your low-end. I've gone 1.875v-0.85v on a PhII 555 dropping power consumption 'at the wall' by one-third.

Asus has a great 'sleep' function, too, for 'instant-on.' Your rig should sleep at 5w or so.
