Question Huge frame drops on Apex Legends 5% gpu usage

Before I go any further, here are my computer specs :

i7-10700k

16gb 2933MHz

Aorus GTX 1080 Ti

750w Gigabyte Power supply

512gb nvme



I've been having this very annoying issue on Apex Legends where my FPS drops to like 5 to 20 for like 20 to 30 seconds.

I've realized that when the frames drop, my GPU usage goes down from 90% to 95% to about 5% to 20% Also, My CPU usage goes up to 100% capped as my GPU usage goes down, which is really weird.

I usually run about 200fps consistently on a 280Hz monitor.



Here's what I tried :

DDU all graphics drivers (including intel HD graphics)

Reinstall the game

changed the thermal paste on my GPU (maybe it was overheating idk)

downclock my GPU

overclock my GPU



**I also followed a tutorial on YouTube yesterday about changing values in Regedit which fixed my problems for that day, but now even with the same values it does the same thing and its really annoying. I did change back the values and it ran even worse.



Another thing to note : Every other game on my PC runs perfectly fine and I never drop a frame except for Apex. All my friends with worse PCs than mine never lag on Apex.



Please help me I'm so close to giving up and I don't know what to do anymore

CPU usage at 100% and very low GPU usage reveals a CPU bottleneck I believe, but that shouldn't happen on this game with your beasty build
