So, I've been using this system for 3 years now. Recently, When I try to play games such as Battlefield 2042 beta, cyberpunk and some recently released AAA titles, my fps barely goes to 60. On average, the fps remains 45-50. This fps range remains same for both high and low graphics settings which is quite strange. As for GPU and CPU usages, Cpu usage is high above 80% and gpu usage is low in around 40-50%. Temperature is okay!

I am desperately seeking advices right now. Why is this happening? What steps should I take now?

Ram: 16GB
CPU: i7 8700 (3.19ghz)
GPU: RTX 2070 (Not oc'd)

Solution

The cpu is not boosting, it’s only running at base speed. If definitely not overheating I’d reset the BIOS to default settings. In addition your RAM is underperforming, possibly not running dual channel. Is the RAM in the correct slots per motherboard instructions for when running 2 sticks?

Finally the SSD looks like it’s underperforming. How full is it?

Also you have 20% background CPU usage during the benchmark.
What all do you have running at start up?
If changing Graphics from High to Low does not improve FPS you are CPU bound.

Okay, so cpu is in base speed. Bios is also at default. Ram is in dual channel too. The ssd is only 10% full.

@magurmaas,
Please don't take a measurement of how your hardware performs in a game like BF 2042 beta, it's just an unoptimized trash. It doesn't use full potential of your hardware, gpu usage and fps is same if you put some settings either on low or ultra, game feels 'choppy' even over 60 fps etc. So if you're not getting what you expected in bf 2042 there are good news, everything is good with your hardware, uninstall that trash and play something else.

While I agree with that point there is clearly something wrong with the userbenchmark results.
