[SOLVED] It appears that my TP Link stops working and I randomly lose internet?

I use a TP link powerline from my router, into the wall socket, to my wall socket where the computer is located and then to my PC. It seems that when I require somewhat high download speeds which comes from streaming video, the internet suddenly drops out, and I get no connection to the internet. However wifi still works, the router is fully functional and all of the TP Link's lights are still illuminated.

I fix it by unplugging it from the socket and just plugging it back in. It works but then it will drop again after some random amount of time. I've found if i'm doing simple things like just staying on one web page or browsing mainly text based pages, with low volumes of data (vs. streaming video), it doesn't cut out.

I've tried different plug sockets, resetting the connection and repairing the TP Link adapters and general windows 10 updates.

If anyone has any ideas what's going on, I'd appreciate any help.

Solution
As I understand it the connectivity is intermittent; works, doesn't work, works again, etc..

Often due to a loose connection (aka "make and break").

So yes: an ethernet cable can partially work. And in some cases only at slower speeds depending on the wire pairs involved.

Did not note any log references but there is a troubleshooting section you should look at beginning on physically numbered Page 37.

"However wifi still works" - is that in reference to your PC or just the network and wireless devices in general?

On your PC, ensure that only one network adapter (either wired or wireless - not both) is enabled.

My understanding would be that you want a wired connection vs. wireless.

Run and post the results of "ipconfig /all" via the Command Prompt.

What make and model router do you have?

Sorry, i should've been more clear. That's in reference to wireless devices in general. My mobo has no wifi capability.

I have a standard router from my IPS, Virgin Media, do you still need a model number?

Does your ISP provide IPv6? If not, disable IPv6.

Is the computer stable (no internet dropout) when not using VPN?

Use Resource Monitor to observe system performance. First while doing simple things and then, second, while streaming/downloading data.

Watch for what changes or happens.

I don't have ipv6 offered with my ISP. I've disabled it in the network settings.

The computer isn't stable without the VPN, i've tested it with a VPN on and off, there's no difference.

Sometimes I run the OS's troubleshooting, it sometimes fixes the issue, sometimes fails, but even if it fails, the connection SOMETIMES comes back and it works, other times i need take the plug for the TP link in and out. But as it has just happened now, i have ran the troubleshooter as my internet cut out, it failed, but my internet came back but it still appears and reports back that i have "no internet" in the small icon, at the far right of the task bar.

This is when it's functional and i'm on this website

This is when the internet cut out

Network connections being shown in the following line diagram:

Router <--ethernet cable ---> TP Link (wall outlet) === electrical wiring === TP Link (wall outlet) <---ethernet ---> Your PC

Edit and correct my line diagram as necessary.

Being that wireless connectivity is working then the problem is narrowed down somewhat.

Are all ethernet cables and TP Links solidly plugged into place without any wiggle or looseness?

Have you been able to swap in known working ethernet cables on both ends of the connection path? Test but swap only one ethernet cable at a time.

Is is possible to run a direct ethernet cable between router and PC to bypass the TP-Links? Just a temporary arrangement/connection to narrow down the potential source of the problem.

Make and model router? The router's logs (if available and enabled) may be capturing some errors corresponding with the connection losses.

That's the correct order for the internet

Everything is solidly plugged in and nothing moves so potentially a poor physical connection is ruled out. I haven't swapped out for known ethernet cables but can an ethernet cable only work "partially"? I'd assume it would either work, or not work with no inbetween?

It wouldn't be possible to run a direct ethernet connection between the router and the PC.

The router doesn't have the functionality to even record logs if i'm not wrong.

I will try using some other ethernet cables and see if there it fixes the issue.

I believe so? My ISP seems to reskin the housing of the router and it may be slightly different in terms of the internals as i'm not sure what "LG-58" means within the full model number "TG2492LG-85" nor can I find it on Arris' website.

I've had a look through that troubleshooting page and nothing solves my issue.
