Here's the story:

http://www.avault.com/news/displaynews.asp?story=2182005-23743

In a nutshell, they're remaking Gauntlet with a new story and all new
everything (basically just taking the name it sounds like). Will be
developed for the PS2, Xbox, and PC. Supposed to be out by the end of the
year. And Josh Sawyer, who I guess did Icewind Dale (an above average RPG
in my book), is on it, so perhaps it won't be a total loss. :)

"Dread Names Of The Dark Society".

If you remove the name 'Starblade' that counts as two.

There's a lot more info on this game over on Gamespot including a video
with Romero and Sawyer demoing the game. Looks like a pretty sweet action
game, I was impressed with the visuals and they talked a good talk about
the story. I especially liked the fact that you can do combo moves with
other players, so that the Warrior can start off some type of combo and
then the Elf can come in and do the completer for a massively huge effect.

Must have been under a rock for a few years.

Romero and Carmack had a falling out several year ago, and Romero left
to create his own "empire" with Dakitana. We all know how that turned out...

One could have told how well it was going to turn out simply by visiting
the penthouse, ... err, ... "office".

NOW he's making cell phone games. I heard he might be doing some
lecturing/teaching for some college, but specifics I do not know.

Boy, yet another Gauntlet remake? Romero's fallen a long way.

good for an explanation of propoganda...

Sarcasm aside, Romero will always have a place in my heart because of
"Heretic" -- the most fun I ever had (besides maybe Blood 3D & Duke3D)
playing one of those old non-accelerated FPS.

He recently married some 18 year old from some east European shithole. He
first made contact with her online when she was 15 or 16 and then flew her
over the States and married her.

Wonder if she signed a prenup?

Daikatana was just too late and too buggy, but at least it tried something
new with it's autonomous NPCs. Playing alone in Doom 3 was kind of boring
and even the NPCs in HL2 are blocking the player quite regulary and seem
to be not much better in any regard, than those in Daikatana years ago.

The ones near the end are annoying and a bit thick. Alyx is worlds apart
from anything that has gone before with regard to modelling, facial
animation and so on. She also navigates well. Dog is pretty good too. Maybe
the braininess of the NPX's depends on how many there are around at a time
and the complexity of the map.

Heretic was great, I played through it again with that OpenGL source port
recently. It was always referred to by PC Zone as 'Doom in tights'.

Haha, there's a trainwreck right there. She actually looked half decent

She's a total whore and ceased to look half-decent - because she posed
for playboy?

I wonder if it's yours or my morality that's screwed up.
