Hi,

I have been using a ROG SCAR 15 for a few months now. Just recently, I have noticed that some of the keys on the keyboard shows different colors than it's supposed to. I've tried updating all the drivers and even tried resetting the laptop but I still get the same results. But rarely the keyboard would go back to normal... showing the correct colors, I don't know if its a software or a hardware issue.

I even went into the AURA app and changed the color of the individual keys, also when I change the color of just one key (In the second image I only changed the color of the RCTRL key) the others light up.

Can anyone please help solve this issue?
Thank you

Solution
tried the Function key + F as that might alter colours.

Look for a setting that says ROG Effects under the Advanced menu option. Click on Onboard LED, then select Disable, and the RGB on your motherboard will shut off with your computer.
that could be overkill

it has to be in bios if they lit at startup.

You could try resetting bios as that might fix it.
or update bios although I don't know which exact model you have so I don't know if there is a new bios - https://rog.asus.com/laptops/rog-strix/2021-rog-strix-scar-15-series/helpdesk_bios

its odd its ctrl shift and enter
i wonder if aura has game profiles it can switch the keyboard lighting to for particular games.

I've already checked AURA and I don't see any profiles that would change these specific set of keys. Also, this same issue occurs when I boot it up... like along with the boot animation.

Aura is in the bios as well, its hardware and software control so that makes sense.

have you looked in the bios, it might have an aura section. I don't know what outcome would be if you reset it there.

the software should change it, not just leave the 3 lights on still. You should be able to use it to over ride any bios settings and reset them.

I just checked the BIOS, it doesn't have an AURA section.

The laptop Model no. is : G532LWS and the BIOS shows: G532LWS.311

I tried altering the colors but the result is like the first image. Apparently, you can clearly see the problem when it is blue or pink and when I tried doing RGB... the colors don't sync, the blue and pink don't lit up.
I don't see any option related to LED in the bios and I've also tried setting the BIOS to the default settings... still no luck

okay you have newest bios now - https://rog.asus.com/us/laptops/rog-strix/rog-strix-scar-15-series/helpdesk_bios

looks like there is an update of
ASUS System Control Interface v3
Update ASUS System Control Interface v3 and dowload/update MyASUS via below link: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9N7R5S6B0ZZH to enjoy complete MyASUS experience
https://rog.asus.com/us/laptops/rog-strix/rog-strix-scar-15-series/helpdesk_download

might not help.

i wonder if you can use this to change it

part of me thinks - its a physical problem - but another goes... the keys are too perfect, chances those 3 keys die on opposite sides of keyboard? And they all function keys. Why I thought of some mode.
So I sit on the fence.

You might want to ask on here - https://rog.asus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?127-ROG-Discussion - as it is strange.

I've already tried that... went into the MyAsus app and it says that the system is up to date.
The version is already at 3.0.8.0

I managed to capture this...

and as you can see in the second video, rarely the keyboard works fine until it starts to flicker and then soon turn out like the first video.

I'm really confused at this point... not sure if it's software or hardware related.

Even I am facing the same problem from today. In my case, the L/R shift and fan profile key have a blue LED always on even in dark mode. The only way is to lower the brightness to 0 to switch it off. While switching it to other aura profiles the keys seem to have the blue light on though it is dim. Has anyone found a solution to it yet? Have tried reinstalling Armoury crate software. Didn't help.

I have tried every possible option, from reinstalling and updating softwares to resetting the BIOS and none of these worked. I finally went to the service center and unfortunately they said it was a hardware issue. So if it’s under warranty you should give it as soon as you can.

Has anyone found a solution yet? Facing the same problem as well. I turn the lighting to static and notice that when I turn it to red yellow green it does work properly. But when i turn the static lighting to like blue, some keys have their light with pink. So far i've turned off the rgb to my keyboard as i'm afraid it might affect the other keys as well.
