Question Low fps on a lot of games at 4k with RTX 4090

my specs are 32gb rams oc speed at around 4000mhz, cpu i9-9980xe with like 6 of the cores oc at about 4.8 4.9 ghz, mobo is ROG RAMPAGE VI EXTREME OMEGA. i noticed when gaming at 3840 x 2160, 7680 x 2160 etc i get frames not above 70 average. shouldnt i be getting higher fps with rtx 4090 even with bottlenecks? i mean how much am i really bottlenecking. can you guys help me figure out?

The CPU is the bottleneck. Switching to 12400f or even 12100f can improve your FPS a lot.

What's the best intel cpu i could grab that fits that mobo socket? Is there any cpu better with that socket type than the ones you listed?

Im gonna check it out, but i mean any modern cpus that have that socket type lga 2066? Or is the i9 9980xe the best one it can fit and i reallg just need a new mobo?

You can also go with a 10th gen CPU, but not newer, thus the list that will work.

Depends on the game and settings.

Turn your settings to all low and see if the FPS goes up if so nothing to fix.

It will perform better than what you have, but not by huge margins.

To raise the performance bar, you'll need to change the CPU, motherboard, and memory to get to modern levels of performance.

Yea i was checking on cpubenchmark it doesnt really seem like it improves by much at all. Like 5percent increase in some areas. Guess i just gotta get whole new system.

The higher the resolution the less the processor maters.
