So I have a lot of questions and need lots of advice on what to do!
I currently have a pc build of;
Ryzen 3 1300x
Msi B350 pc mate ( mobo )
2 x 4 gb g.skill ram 3200 MHz
Gigabyte 1050 gpu
And I think I have a 550w bronze +80 psu
So my first question is will upgrading my ryzen 3 1300x to a ryzen 5 3600 and my gpu gigabyte 1050 to a 1660 regular or super. Will my current B350 motherboard be capable of handling the cpu and the gpu upgrade. I’ve seen many sites say yes and many say no due to compatibility issues but I haven’t found an exact answer, and if it does work , which component should be upgraded first in the situation?
I already know I must upgrade RAM without a doubt cause 8gb is no where near enough; however, my cpu cooler gets in the way of accessing all 4 slots for my ram so would it be better to just buy 2x8 gb ram sticks and replace the current or or put one of the 4gb sticks with the 2x8 in a single channel to get the dual 16 and a single channel of 4.
My main goal is to try to get a upgrade path that’s not too expensive but at the same time going to be able to push most titles in the future of atleast a year or 2. I’m very interested in the new game coming out by amazon called New World so I would like to be able to run that at least without any issues at medium to max settings 1080p
Another question too is will my ryzen 3 1300x do just fine running a 1660 regular or super or will the bottleneck be too significant to even try to run them together. Thank you in advance for any helpful tips or answers in what I should do or what route I should go into upgrading!

What gpu would you suggest in that situation and the 3600 is only like $30 more than the 1600 with a %30 performance increase right ?

The 1600 AF should be $85, or maybe $95 at a push, where as the 3600 is about $160. The prices you see right now with the AF are a bit crazy, but yes obviously the 3600 is better. But 1600 AF, if found at prices above, is about the best bang for buck around. So with that saving of $80, hopefully, you would be able to go from a Gigabyte 1050 (about $125) to a rx 580 (about $170), with change to spare. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MsWfrH/xfx-radeon-rx-580-8gb-gts-xxx-ed-video-card-rx-580p8dfd6

Motherboard is compatible. You'll have to update BIOS to latest version before cpu upgrade.

Doesn't matter.

New set of 2x8GB ram is better than mixing multiple ram kits together. Otherwise you may run into ram compatibility issues.

It would be fine. At some more cpu intensive titles you might stress cpu to 100% and it would start bottlenecking. But this usually can be alleviated by changing ingame graphics quality settings.

What if the latest bios is a beta version and I don’t foresee them making any more adjustments updates

Might be worth upgrading to a 1600 AF (if you can find one) and using the money saved to go for a beefier card. You'll see better gaming performance that way around than getting an excellent CPU like the 3600 and a mediocre GPU like the 1660

I don’t know where you found an $85 1600 AF but if you have a link to one that would be awesome and the only ones I’ve found are $129 at the cheapest

This is the price they were a month ago. I think the coupling of a supply shortage and their popularity has made the price rocket. It's hard for me to search the US but the cheapest in the UK I can find is £90 ($110), which is still a bit steep.

In the link provided - find your cpu and click on 7A34vAL.zip to download BIOS file.
So I have another question when I’m in bios settings it shows my ram is at 3200mhz but when I’m logged in it’s showing I’m only using 1600mhz I believe, what’s the deal with that and I also saw the B350 pc mate only supports 2400mhz could that be a factor ?

DDR - stands for Double Data Rate. Data gets transferred 2x times per clock cycle.
So if actual frequency is 1600mhz, then effective frequency is 3200mhz (because of 2 transfers per clock cycle).

Your motherboard supports 3200mhz in OC mode.
I hope you don’t mind but I’m coming to you every time I have a question, you have all the answers to all the questions I’ve asked, thank you!

How much money are you willing to spend on upgrades?

I suggest you get 2x8, 3200mhz CL16 ram for under 100$. A 3600, and a b450 motherboard or if you want to keep the mobo for a very long time, an x570 board. The 1660 super is really good value and I do think you should get that. Idk if your PSU is destroyed, but probably keep it and don’t upgrade.

I just got my 1660 super in and my ryzen 5 3600 is coming in this evening and I’m ordering my 16 gbs of ram today also but I’m thinking about keeping my current mobo at the moment being as it can function with all of those components at the moment and my psu is a 500 80+ bronze
