[SOLVED] New CPU, only boots to bios

There are similar threads to this but I am seeing a bit different.

My ryzen 3600x recently kicked the bucket (way too soon imo)

So I got a 5600x to replace it. After install, pc only boots to bios. When I enter boot menu "to setup" is the only option. Nothing else was changed, the bios still shows my ssd with windows on it sjowing up in sata slot 1. Just.. wont even try to boot.

Solution
I can't seem to update the bios either. It reads the folder in m-flash, but can't find the file.
...
Have you extracted the binary file from the archive? When updating from within BIOS do not rename it. Locate it in the root folder of the USB stick drive.

Also use a smaller stick drive formatted in FAT32. Something less than 8GB is best but an older one around 512MB would be ideal.

What motherboard do you have and what BIOS version is it on? It probably needs to have the BIOS updated before the motherboard can "see" the new CPU.
Sorry, it is an msi x470 and its on version E7B79AMS.HCO

Bios date is 5/18/21

Won't even let me boot from a windows install usb. Only boot option is bios.

I'm sure that BIOS will work with a 5600X but I'd update to the latest for your board in any case since it fixes several problems with earlier BIOS's...such as USB dropouts in certain circumstances.

Also...reset CMOS. That's essential whenever you change a CPU, or update BIOS. I'd do it before doing the update, and then after doing the update. That's probably the reason you can't get out of BIOS right now.

I have cleared cmos many times, still no luck.

I appreciate any and all auggestions though, I'm about at my limit

I will try this, the stick I was using was fat32 but 32gig. I did not rename the file, just extracted it to the stick. Bios in m-flash found the stick/folder, but when opened didn't find any file inside
