Hello everyone, currently have
i 5 7600 3.8GHz
16GB RAM
GTX 1060 6GB
and been getting performance issues loads of FPS drops basically coming from the fact that my CPU is pretty much always at 100% when i play (Valorant is the game i play the most, i play with the lowest settings possible), already ran Norton to check for Viruses (came negative). This "issue" of the CPU being at 100% has been going on for a long time now.
Also bought this CPU like 4 years ago.
Any recommendations on a new CPU to buy? My budget can go up to like 220€. Or is this an issue that I can solve with the CPU

Thanks in advance for the help

Solution
If you want to upgrade then go with a ryzen 3 3100/3300x those are much better than some 7th gen i5, for a motherboard i reccomend b350/a320 because those should be pretty cheap and if you do have a good deal locally (i found a listing on my local area for an x470 mobo for only 70$) then get that instead, heres the hierarchy from worst to best for these mobos (correct me if im wrong) : a320 - b350 - b450 - x370 - x470, no b550 or x570 cuz you wouldnt be getting those anyways, if you do plan to upgrade to ryzen 5000 then get the 3100 and b450 or x470 since those will support it (in 2021)
Im reading there are fps limiter options in game for menus, background etc, have you tried setting those to say 60?

What's your refresh rate?

Too high fps margins could be the reason why a quad cpu is being thread challenged in this game since the cpu does need to draw each frame for the graphics card. See if reducing frame rates help.

Your well above the recommended specs for Valorant.

Are you running on integrated grahics instead of the 1060 6gb ??
Yeah im using the 1060, this issue also happened in CSGO where i would run the game in the lower graphic settings 4:3 and my CPU would still be at 100% causing some freezes

I got valorant limited at 180 FPS and I already played around with those fps limiters for menus etc and still didnt do anything, my refresh rate is 144Hz

I was thinking more on buying a new Intel because my motherboard (MSI Z270 Gaming Plus) only supports Intel.
U think that swapping motherboards and getting an AMD is worth it? (Keep in mind i got around 220€ )
