[citation][nom]jaquith[/nom]Chris - I look forward to another fantastic review! Hope there's no 'catch' or certainly not the 'catch' of the GTX 590. Double-check the PCIe 3.0 'slot' wattage, the spec is confusing.[/citation]
Without direct access to the SIG's spec docs, I'm going off about an hour's worth of research elsewhere. Do you have any resources available indicating the slot does more than 75 W? Exceeding that number would break compatibility with first-gen interfaces, which seems unlikely.

The power of two GTX680s requires 4GB VRAM for games like Crysis 2. Prepare to waste your money considering the GTX690 says 4GB, but it is only 2GB per GPU which means you are going to hit a VRAM wall.

[citation][nom]ojas[/nom]Where's my GTX 660?[/citation]Anything below GTX 680 that is NOT a rebadge would be welcome at this point. AMD did a top-to-bottom launch in a fairly timely fashion, all things considered. They've even got mobile GCN parts rolling out.

When Kepler finally did come out, it did reclaim the performance crown in gaming, but availability is crap - and now they've sacrificing two GTX 680s for every 690 they ship. Regardless, the $200-300 cards are a LOT more appealing to me, and I'd really like GCN to get some serious competition in this price range.

[citation][nom]redeye[/nom]paper launch! paper launch!...wheres tomshardwares mention of availability?... this is obsolutely a paper launch!... tomshardware trashed AMD for a "paper launch" ... nvidia does the "same" thing... (only different).. i wonder does tomshardware have one?... OR has Nvidia threatened them with the don't mention paper launch "or else"...have you checked the price of two 7970's? they are 459(918 for two) before rebate for a sapphire 950/1000 7970 from newegg... (last time I checked). GOOD LUCK nvidia!, going to be a tough time beating two 7970'spaper launch! paper launch! paper launch! paper launch![/citation]
Yep, here come the zealous AMD fanboys complete with their inferiority complex, conspiracy theories, and blatantly hypocritical allegations of bias and favoritism. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you exhibit A... redeye.

Pretty sure there will be SLI or Crossfire configurations that will provide equal or better performance at a lower price point. I am personally curious about the power consumption of this beast.

Was hoping for the 6xx Mid-range, but was expecting this--two semi-disappointing launches in one week, for me. As many have said before, they can't even meet the demand for a single GPU card, perhaps they were saving them all for the 690... First, the Ivy Bridge let down, now this. What can ya do?

Oh... My... GOD! This is porn. I definitely should not be looking at this at work. Right now I wish I had 2 grand to blow. Plus another 4k to spend on monitors that could take advantage of this UNLIMITED POWA!

Last longer than a couple of hours? GTX 680 cards sell out within 5 minutes on newegg! (and then if you're me, you get it and it's defective x.x)

Mighty fine card.... useable by 1-3% of gamers that plays BF 3 in eye-f on 3 monitors that cost 1000+ for being able to run 2440x1440

again.... nice card .... kinda useless at this point ^^

@andrey64 "AMD good luck trying to beat this baby out with your 7990"

It depends on your needs.. These days I use video card for 3D rendering.. 7990 will crush GTX 690 in compute performance, since the 680 had a such a pathetic performance in that area.

I just received an email that the Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge CPU I ordered this morning has shipped. I'm waiting to order a nVidia GeForce GTX 6x0 video card to use with it - but, haven't found one in stock (at a reasonable price) I can order.

Suddenly the stupid GPU that Intel is putting on its CPUs is starting to look like it will actually have a useful purpose for a while.

[citation][nom]englandr753[/nom]I guess I'll continue with my 3x 6950's flashed to 6970's. Honestly, I don't see a game in the near future that warrants an upgrade for a while. EVERYTHING I've thrown at my system is butter smooth, just the way daddy likes it!! I'll wait and see what is available 3 years down the road. =P[/citation]

Glad to know you can power 3 1920x1080 monitors on your "6970s". I'm kind of surprised you aren't GPU memory bound, but 2GB may be enough, I don't rightly know. 60fps minimum frame rates in BF3, World of Warcraft, and Crysis 2 must be really nice for less than, what, $700-800 and only 400-500W of graphics power. (Or do your 3 cards draw more than that?)

/end sarcasm
