I work at CompUSA and I remember when we first got the 900 case in. It's pretty nice and the huge blowhole is pretty nice. Best yet, it doesn't feel cheap in any way. Same with my case. I wanted my computer to feel and look like it was worth what was in it. I think it's pretty strange that so many companies are falling behind on release dates. Microsoft and vista, nVidia, Asus, and even Sony with the PS3 release. Supposedly it's coming out the 17th, but I haven't seen anything come in for it. No displays, signs, etc. My guess, don't hold your breath for it if you were.

Back to the topic, I'm sticking with the e6600 and asus 680i mobo. And about memory, most people use Corsair for best compatibility, OCZ cause it's cheap sometimes (but lacks compatibility with some mobos), and Crucial has been making a good name for itself. It's best to check Tom's guide on memory if your unsure what to get.

Just keep looking for it,it'll come sooner or later.Goodluck.

OK... two days away( we all hope)! If you see any news, post it here asap! I'm at work but I do get some free time every now and then so I'll be looking around the internet also!

I'm gonna go a little off topic if that's ok:

I was wondering what the major flaws of the 590chipset were? I've gotten the feeling that it is pretty much hated by a good bit of people. What were its problems?

General consensus seems to be that it falls short in overclocking ability. Some numbers I've seen on a few sites show it falling short of the current 965 chipsets and even the 975s. The new 680i is supposed to solve that problem and we're anticipating it overclocking beyond anything currently for C2D.

I think I might exchange my 590 once the 680i comes out, after all, I haven't opened it or anything yet(it hasn't arrived).

Long time reader first time poster. 😀

I have a 2 1/2 year old pc right now, AMD 2600 5950geforce agp 1 gig of ram.

when i first decided to get a new pc, i bought (in July) the AMD FX-60 7950 gtx, 2 gigs ram, asus A8n 32-sli the whole works... then i saw that INTEL released their CORE. I sold my new pc with in a week and have been waiting since... I'm jumping ship because i haven't had an Intel system in 4 years, and for what there showing...well worth the wait.

I was waiting for the 590 since they released some pics and specs in august... I'm not a overclocker, but the way i see it is with how easy it is to overcloack now (just remember to cool), why not make your pc a little more future proof.

By the By, with this forums my decision has been that must easier, thanks for all the info guy.

590 Cons

1) Bad overclocker (I would say "sad")
2) No support for quad-core
3) Many posting problems (check the motherboard section and you will see)
4) Not to forget, a very OLD chipset. C19 which has been used since the earlies nForce 4 series which means you are over paying for this board.

JUST GOT SOMETHING

Voltage dip causes artifacting and restartingIsolated issues with some GeForce 8800GTX graphics cards have forced NVIDIA to stop shipment on some launch cards

A memo published by NVIDIA has circulated through GeForce 8800GTX launch partners claiming some initial G80 cards have been stopped from reaching resellers. Parts of this memo were republished on Bit-Tech earlier today. Specifically, the memo states that some vendor (including EVGA) GeForce 8800GTX based cards will generate artifacts and cause the system to restart after 30 minutes to 2 hours of operation.

Other manufacturers are also affected, but EVGA was specifically mentioned as having this problem. Any manufacturer shipping cards based on the NVIDIA reference design is not affected.

The artifacts and crashing are a result of an incorrect resistor value. According to the document, a 50K ohm resistor was installed instead of a 30K ohm and results in artifacts during heavy operation. Nevertheless, the document recommends checking the MOSFET to ensure the proper ones were installed and replace them if necessary.

EVGA has released a statement to DailyTech claiming "EVGA has been working very closely with NVIDIA to correct an error in an early BOM list for internal testing, sample boards and a few review units. There is no issue with production boards and this will not delay the launch."

Several other manufacturers, including XFX and ASUS, have confirmed to DailyTech that their GeForce 8800GTX cards are unaffected and will ship at launch without problem.

DailyTech previously explored the performance of NVIDIA’s upcoming G80 GeForce 8800GTX. The card used did not exhibit artifact or restarting issues.

I would say that you better becarefull if you plan to get a non ASUS or XFX 8800 card. I hope this doesnt cause any problems in the event. I HOPE THIS DOESNT PERJUDICATE THE 680i RELEASE!.

From VR-Zone

We have received news that all the 8800GTX cards out in the channel are being recalled due to manufacturing defect. We heard it is probably due to a resistor controlling 2D/3D switching and that leads to 3D corruption. However, the defect doesn't affect the 8800GTS cards. This issue probably could delay the launch, if not, there could be no availability of 8800GTX cards at launch but just GTS.

Update #1 : No affect on launch date as yet
Update #2 : NVIDIA will handle the necessary hardware changes (changing of resistors)
Update #3 : Only some 8800GTX cards are affected due to wrong resistor value by a contract manufacturer but to be safe, all the card makers are recalling their cards

Looks like is kinda solved now.

With regards to the new boards, EVGA has been working very closely with NVIDIA to correct an error in an early BOM list for internal testing, sample boards and a few review units. EVGA has tested and corrected the issue with its early boards and this will not delay the launch. EVGA is working with the review sites that it has sent boards to in order to get them updated boards so reviews can be posted on time.

Now you can buy eVGA board too... and feel safe :)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEN!!!!

People have enough GPU's to choose from as is. most of us have either the 590 or the 680i for a longer future PC...

Amen too my friend

Who cares about the New Power-Hungry 8800 Series GPU? most people wont go SLI because only 1 card takes 2 power connectors. Also, the price and who knows how big the perfomance is gonna be. Plus, games wont have any effect.... many reasons to dont buy it.

BOOOO eVGA, YEAY BEER!... isn't that the way it goes?

anyone got any news? I'm drowning in my own anticipation... 😛
