GeForce LAN 3 Officially Started Today

Make sure you all check the ASUS site (including the zeus), eVGA and NVIDIA site. Also Zipzoomfly, TigerDirect, NewEgg etc constantly!.

Lets all hope we see the board soon.

It's not surprising to see last minute tweaking from manufacturers. We are tweaking are new systems to run on vista and expecting a launch near first quarter of next year. All dependant on how things go, we may just push that back as the reliability of win xp is established.

We use different motherboard manuf. due to price/performance/availability. When I see EVGA and hear in the background to watch for this board makes me wonder if they came across a way to improve performance to get an edge over the competition.

In any case, I will stay with EVGA motherboard and video card. Someone mentioned there 3 month upgrade video which is a smart move to smooth out the transition.

Just now saw the pic of the striker
That is an impressive amount of superfluous heat pipe.

Kinda grotesque in an extravagant kind of way.

As a watercooling/silent overclocking fan.. I'm kinda worried that the voltage regulators and northbridge will generate way too much heat without a big fan positioned over them...

I could cut it up and mount heat conductors to the heat pipes but.. dang.

I'm building a 3U watercooled high performance case from scratch (50% done) and I'm a little worried about those heat pipes/sinks.

I've been lurking on this thread since late August, but never saw a reason to post. Now, though, I have some news.

I was just in Fry's Electronics in Palo Alto, CA. and they had a shopping cart full of 5-6 eVGA 680i motherboards. I didn't know they had come out yet, and I guess based on thread chatter they don't officially come out until tomorrow. The box was the nVidia green/black, and I wouldn't have known it was eVGA if I hadn't looked closely. Sticker on the front says it supports DDR2-800 RAM. It had the standard 590 type features like first-packet, etc.

Price was $299.99. I'll probably wind up getting a 680i motherboard, but I'm going to wait for a better price.

That's your news tidbit for the evening. 😀

I hate to say this, but it looks like the Asus Striker Extreme won’t be out today. None of the e-tailers seem to have it.

Yeah, I've looked around and can't find anything. That makes me very sad. 🙁

I was reading on a Geforce LAN 3 website that there was some talk about the 11th for both releases. Not sure how reliable this is but it was on a official Geforce LAN 3 site... I'm trying to find it again, it was something i stumbled upon 8)

It's not the ASUS, it's the eVGA. But it's the first 680i I have seen for sale so far.

Fully upgradable to Quad Core, supposed to be a much better over clocker!

Here's the link.
