Is the P5N32-E SLI the 590 or the 680i?

I just got my 590 yesterday pretty late and started putting it together. It looks almost exactly like the pictures above. There are some really wierd things I've noticed so far. One being, the installation instructions don't completely match the board I have. For instance, in the picture that shows where to attach the 1394 bracket cable, it shows the wrong spot! Also, there is some kind of "mystery" COM1 where the instructions say the 1394 is supposed to be. I found the red 1394 connector on another spot on the board....

Any ideas what this COM1(it looks just like the USB2 connector and is also blue) is for? There are a couple other wierd inconsistancies.... for instance, the silk screening seems to be a little off also.

Sorry brother, very different boards. at least from a overclocking point of view, and an upgradable one too. if you don't over clock you will be perfectly fine. 590 is more for the none clocker.

This is my dream machine I'm having sent. Alot of thanks to those that helped with parts. However, I do have one part that is backorder that I'm not going to wait for. The 7900 gto......I did research on this, but now will be awhile before and if newegg gets into stock. Might consider the 7950gt ko if price is right. Three days....I can't wait !!!!

Blewstar

so you ended up buying it? Pretty sweet rig there son.
I just bought mine too,

X6800
AsusNF680i
74gig raptor
500 WD 7200
7950GTX
2gigs Dominator Corsair 800 ram
Copperhead mouse/g15 Keyboard

i can not wait until it gets to my front door!!! OH GOD!!!

Hey! Everybody is gonna have their rig ready before the end of the month except me! WHy??!!!

Good news from excaliberpc! they put a price of $375 which means they will sold out first than ZipZoomFly and will make them drop that $400 to maybe $360. still a UNreasonable price but I hope they just drop it. Thats a signal which makes everybody know they will keep dropping the price.

Now, Ill probably buy the PSU and my videocard now since they should have good prices now and while I get them Ill wait for the Striker Extreme.

By the way, HERE is the main difference between the Striker Extreme and the P5N32-E

Easy as this: The Striker Extreme is a ROG motherboard and the P5N32-E is not.

Omg the board is released and we have made 4 pages in 2 days going for the 5 one. Great Job!

OK Slim...but that still leaves the question ( for us not in the know) what is the difference between a ROG (Republic Of Gamers ) board and one that is not? What are the extra bells and whistles??

Hey Lash.... what is it you just bought?? The EVGA Board? What Ram?

So Far

The Striker Extreme contains these EXTRA features

LCD Poster – Easy System Tweaking with Style
LCD Poster is an excellent feature for system tuning and upgrades. Most hardcore users and engineers install a debug card, which displays a two-digit code that enables them to recognize which part of the system is responsible for hanging the system during boot-up.

LCD Poster, located at the back I/O, displays the names of each boot-process instead of using codes. When system hangs due to faulty connection or configuration, the LCD Poster will freeze on the displayed process name that caused the hang up, allowing users to know exactly what needs to be fixed.

EL I/O and Onboard LED – Easy connection even in the dark
With LAN parties and e-sport tournaments growing in popularity, many gamers and tweakers are finding out that assembling and fine-tuning their computers in the dark environments are quite a hassle.

The Striker Extreme incorporated EL I/O, which simplifies connecting devices by lighting up the back I/O panel for convenient connection in dark environments, meaning no more jamming devices into the wrong connectors. Onboard LED offers strategically placed LEDs to provide illumination to motherboard labels. Users can turn on the LEDs from a switch on the back I/O. This switch also cuts all other circuits on the motherboard except the LEDs to ensure safety during system tweaking. Besides allowing easy DIY, the two features also jazz up a system with cool lightings.
Onboard Switch – Turn system on/off, reset and clear CMOS with 1 push of a button
A power user typically builds a system outside of the case. Hence, he needs to short the front panel pins to power up or restart the system, and switch jumpers and pop the battery to clear CMOS. With the Striker Extreme, doing all that is now just a push on the button.

SupremeFX – Great Sound
The SupremeFX audio card, with 24bit/192kHz sampling in all surround channels, provides high-quality audio whether it's through headphones or 7.1 surround sound speakers. The bundled array microphone, which comes with background noise filter that detects repetitive and stationary noises (non-voice signals) like computer fans and air conditioners, then eliminates them in the incoming audio stream while recording.

Bundle 3D Games, 3DMark® 06 Advanced Edition, Kaspersky® Anti-Virus
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter supports the advanced physics effects and is currently one of the most popular games.

3DMark is the most popular and authoritative 3D benchmark application used by professionals. 3DMark06 is the latest version in the popular 3DMark series, including advanced SM2.0 and HDR/SM3.0 Shader graphics tests and now including single, multiple core and multiple processor CPU tests.

Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Personal offers premium antivirus protection for individual users and home offices. It is based on advanced antivirus technologies. The product incorporates the Kaspersky® Anti-Virus engine, which is renowned for malicious program detection rates that are among the industry's highest.

Now take a look at the back I/O panel of the P5N32-E

http://zeus.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=397&model=1459&modelmenu=1

--------------------

I would definetely go for the striker extreme, the P5N32-E looks kinda "naked" in the back (I know it sounded wrong 8) )

Hmmmm...well Like I said....I'll probably wait until next week to buy. I think I'll let things shake out first, give the other makers a chance to come out with their boards.

Most of the features I mentioned are not available on the P5N32-E but still like Erbil said there are 2 eSata ports on the back plus some many other connectors thats why I said the P5N32-E looks kinda naked in the back.

Pirke, Ill let the pros answer you since I dont know much about water cooling.

Well you have made a mistake, dont confuse

The ones that are on the ZZF site are the Striker Extreme and the P5N32-E which are both 680i chipsets

The new one Im talking about is a 650i chipset motherboard which name is P5N-E, a totally different name to difference both motherboards.

Hopefully this clarifies everything.

Once one of you has this board, can you confirm for me how warm the northbridge and voltage regulators get or the heat sinks attached to them?
(without a ton of air on them)

Thanks in advance

Yes I would like that information too. If I see they have good temps, then that would mean the striker extreme is even better and maybe even worth it after its price comes down.

Just got mine today and is the box huge. Didn't really have time to give it a once over, but it looked pretty nice and the mobo had enough room for my zalman 9500 LED hsf. The booklet provided also has a pic of it installed so.. yeah. No problems there.

Scarlett..... OK...I'm too lazy to scroll back...Which one did you get?? The EVGA? And what ram??

Oh the hell with it!! Just post your system build!!! LOL Greatly appreciated!
