The CPU cooler is installed fine and has thermal paste on it, temperatures never go above 91. PSU is brand new and the motherboard is a refurbished model I got last week.

Everytime I try to play a game within 5 minutes I lose all audio, my monitor flickers and then goes black. When this happens I have to hold the power button on my case and turn it back on, my Bios always comes up with the message "CPU is overheating" even though the temperatures are never high enough to cause concern. Is this a problem with the CPU itself could it be something else?

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor ($158.99 @ Amazon)

  • Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory ($160.99 @ B&H)

What cpu cooler are you using? 91 degrees on a 5000 series ryzen seems very hot to me. I would not be comfortable running it that hot personally despite it technically being within spec. If this was during a cinebench or Prime run I could possibly understand but during gaming it seems excessively high.

What temperature does the system idle at?

Is this all games or a specific game?
