Hello guys,

I'm planning to get the RTX 3070 when it releases. I'm no expert when it comes to PC parts and such, so I'd like to ask the community if my current PC build can support this GPU to the fullest without bottle-necking or being short on power.

PSU: Seasonic - SS 660XP2 Platinum-660
Processor: Intel Core i7-8086K @ 4.00GHz 4.01GHz
RAM: 16GB
Monitor: 1 monitor ASUS 1920x1080 144Hz

Will this build be able to support an RTX 3070? If there's a part i need to replace, do you have some recommendations so that it can support the GPU?

Your response is very much appreciated. Thank you.

I don’t see any problems. However even the best gaming CPU’s will probably limit FPS before the gpu in some scenarios but it will still perform very well. The 3070 is supposed to be about 2080Ti level and the 2080Ti could be limited by the cpu at 1080p.

The question, is, which 3070 are you looking at? If it's the Founder's Edition card, then the connector is a new/proprietary(since it's yet to come to everyone's hands) connector.

How old is the PSU? I'd have to ask you to wait and see what the reviews have to say and if you can get away with a lower wattage PSU.

Haven't really thought about what particular 3070 i'll get, but any decent one for gaming will do i guess.
PSU is quite old, at least 6 years already since i got it if i remember

Tom's hardware has done an unboxing of the 3080.

if i remember well, the box included adapters for 2x8 pins to 12 pins

check your PSU, if you have atleast 2x 8pins connectors on separate cables, and maybe an additionnal 6 Pin, you should be able to plug it.

Founders Edition Ampere cards will come with an adapter 2x8 to 1x12, 3rd party cards will come with 2x8 anyways.
Your PSU is a Platinum grade 660 W which will be able to deliver at least 530 W constantly. Unless you do not have heavily overclocked your system you should be fine with a 3070.
