starz! (very little in the way of graphics)

I still install and replay these. The graphics are dated, especially on a game like star control 2, but none of the recent games are near as memorable as these.

It was one of the first games I played on a computer, and it was genuinely fun. Can't play it any more though... It was made for the old MAC OS's... No offense to newer games in 3d, but fun trumps the eye candy every time.
 
Wing Commander Prophecy

After a decade and more i still install it and play it every 2-3 years.
Graphics may not be that good any more, but the gameplay is years ahead of most modern games. Oh! And no DRM!!! And i bought it original, love the manual and the story; it is like reading a book!
See game companies, a little proper effort is going to get you the money, not DRM!

Deus Ex, Oni, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Loom, (original) Secret of Monkey Island... the list could go on.
 
caesers 2(what a game)...starcraft...Rac Rally...soldiers of fortune(feel the power)...revolt(the funniest)...Dungeon Keeper 2(more than the next one)...Diablo...Carmagedeon...Rac Rally...Actua Soccer 2 but all times great is.... Azrael's Tears. it's bad that tomorrow i will have to go work all day... damnit...if you let me choose one from other platform...Naomi - Soul Calibour series...Virtua Striker 2...Scud Race...Speed'N USA California something...another great one. Game Gear - Micromachines V4, GP2 Airton Senna's. Genesis/Megadrive - Super Hang HonG. one with aliens that i cant remember the name. and so many others that marked my youth. Best Game Ever?? Grand Prix 2(Pentium 166MMX)/3(P3-450 Geforce DDR)/4(cant remember but might have been a xp1800). the one that i played first was Grand Prix 1 in a 286...3 floppy's. what a great game i must say. and off course that cheap consoles with 1001 tv games... The one with frogs and the one where you have to fly some kind of plane. But now Just the usual CS:S, World off Goo and FM2009.
 
Star Control 2, Freespace 1 and 2 with expansion, Flashback, Out of this World, Heart of the Alien, Mechwarrior Mercenaries and Starcraft. There are more, but those are the ones off the top of my head.
 
I'm forced to say WoW, given I've been playing it for 4 years and even though it's not as good now as it was years ago IMHO, I recently came back to it.
 
Hard one:

Duke Nukem 3D - come get some, loads of fun, too bad they forgot their fans with Duke Nukem Forever, and i doo mean forever

Tribes - Shazbot, too bad it died off. what about the fans. love the with new online version, but it still needs work...

battlefield 1942 - medic! again, too bad they forgot their fans with console only battlefield bad company, i know battlefield heros, battlefield 1942 and battlefield korea, battlefield 3, but i'm still waiting for my beta keys ;-(
 
Fallout 1 & 2

And if you think Flashback was good, try playing it's predecessor Another World... shorter but much better game (atmosphere / style / story).
 
Without a doubt the greatest game for me was and still is the orignal Ghost Recon with Desert Seige and Island Thunder. I lost count of how many days I stayed up until 8am playing the game with friends. I Still have 3 copies. 1 of which is still sealed. Rainbow 6 Vegas (after the patches ) and Vegas 2 come in a close second for me. 3 goes to UT 2003

Did you know flashback was original a game released for the amiga ?, it took about a year before they ported it to the PC which makes it funny in a way that you call it the best PC game ever.

Although i used Amiga's back in those days i only played flashback on a 3DO system.

 
you guys all fail... face first into a mound of hardened cement. the best game of all time for me is counter strike/ counter strike source.
 
I'll have to say based on just gameplay - of all time. Joint Operations (full of bugs and all but overall best game I've ever played on PC)

1. Joint Ops
2. Doom 1 and 2
3. Half Life 2
4. Wolfenstein 3d and Return to Castle Wolfenstein
5. GTA 4
6. Far Cry (second one was a major disappointment)
7. Delta Force
8. Delta Force Land Warrior
9. Delta Force Black Hawk Down
10. Warlords Battlecry
 
Oh no wait! I have to add ONE more - Diablo II !! That's my new number two for sure! Best game ever...I've been playing it since it came out and still get plenty of gameplay out of it.
 
Also, Ultima III, IV, V. Ultima Underworld. Any of the SSI Gold Box Dungeons and Dragons games. Sentinel Worlds I: Future Magic and Hard Nova.
 
Okay, a lot of people have mentioned these but for me the games that stand out in my mind are:

Duke Nukem 3D !!!
Mechwarrior!!!!!
Fallout 1&2
Command & Conquer/Red Alert
Super Mario RPG (SNES)
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
Half life
 
Quake III. I've had so much fun playing DOS games like Pitfall, Raptor: Call of the Shadows, Death Rally, Wacky Wheels, Liero, C-Dogs and others like Half-Life and Max Payne but Quake III is the game I played most and had most fun with.

It was a close tie with Max Payne I must say. I put in the disk into my computer ever so slowly, so afraid that it was scratch and get destroyed like my other beloved game Emperor: Battle for Dune.
