hey I bought this video card last year,
Asus Riva TNT-2 32MB AGP
model: AGP-V3800 TVR

How can I overclock this? I'm new to 3D overclocking...
do i need to buy some new thermal watcher to see what the temp of this chip gets.

BTW: I have a slot fan colling the agp card, and the card has a cooler on itself...

Thanks

Download either apps that are meant to overclock the tnt or get powerstrip.

I got my tnt2 running at 140/170 at 40 degrees

Alright so you have to overclock with software apps..
nothing to UNLOCK? no jumpers to move?...
and what's this 140/170 ...
How do you know its at 40 degrees?

Yeah, nothing to do but software overclock. When you get the overclocking app you'll see that it say the core is 125mhz and the memory is 150mhz. I change the core to 140mhz and the memory to 170mhz. Your card may get higher or lower than that. The way I tested the temp was no just shut down after testing and feel the heatsink. Then I ran some hot water and then got it to the same temp as the heatsink. Then I put a thermometer and stuck it in the water. Not the most scientific way but it is fairly accurate.

Alright.. I'll get the software, and try that out.
how do you know when you hit max ? can't POST?
BTW: where can I download video card overclocking software...?

You'll know you'll have problems when you get artifacts on the screen. 3dmark from madonion is the most finicky things I've found. You can usually tell right away when you see the text messed up. Or when running things go a little crazy. After that just set it back a bit. I tried to run at 150/180 but wouldn't let me. Don't jump ahead too fast. Take small steps like 10mhz until that happends. let us know how you do

Thank you for the information m_kelder, I'll let you know when I do it, for now I'm waiting for my hardware to come.. i have the video card now, But I want to OC it when the new mobo comes... when I get it all set I'll oc it all...

Also, if i OC my processor, will it make me not be able to oc the video card some more?...

depends, if you change the fsb to overclock then you may have problems with video card or any other card you have plugged in. If you just change the multiplier for the cpu you'll be fine.

Oh, I was thinking of overclocking my motherboard's FBS tho
im getting Abit KT7a with tbird 1ghz
maybee try: 133 x (8, 8.5, 9)
hopefully get 1.2ghz.

Would this intrude me from oc'ing my video too ?

what do you mean by oc your cpu first?
try the regular FBS at 100mhz first?
or just do the 133mhz at cpu fastest speed. and when all that is stable.. then try to oc the Video card.. ?..

Okay.
