Question Is it safe to update the BIOS on an ASRock motherboard with an Intel CPU ?

I have a relatively decent system, and I've heard of the Intel faults going on lately, so I decided to look into updating my BIOS.
I've never familiarized myself with the process of doing so and I want to know:
Is it safe to update my BIOS straight from 9.01 to 17.02? Or should I upgrade from version to version?

Yes it's as safe as you do it and given recent Intel's problems practically a must because of microcode. There's nothing about stepping one by one version so you can go to latest one directly.

Keep in mind that there is always a danger with upgrading bios especially if you are in a region where brownouts let alone black outs can happen, if the PC loses power you might end up with a brick.
If the mobo has flashback then it is quite a bit safer to do updates.
