Hello everybody! As the title says, I currently have a Ryzen 5 2600, and just purchased an RTX 2070 Super. Obviously, I'm getting some bottleneck since the GPU is pretty beast. It plays around 70-100 FPS on Battlefield 5 (as opposed to 100-120fps in some benchmarks).

My question is simple: Is it worth upgrading to a 3600? or 3700x? What CPU would you recommend?

I don't plan to upgrade any component for the next 3-4 years, and my goal is to play at 100+ fps in 1080p, and around 70-80 in 1440p. I would like to hear some opinions on this because I don't really have a great cooler to overclock the 2600, and don't want my fans to be at 80%+ trying to cool it. But I do want to get rid of the bottleneck.

Solution
A 3600 will net you 10-20fps more abouts, 3700x 2-5 fps more on top of that. If you don't plan to upgrade for a few years, I'd go with a 3700x just for the wiggle room. But a 3600 is just as capable.

side note, the 3700x comes with a beefier cooler that's slightly quieter the the 3600 if that matters.

Thank you! I will use my aftermarket cooler. Don't really like the stock cooler. I think I might just go for the 3600 since I really only game. I don't do streaming or anything else while gaming. Really what I want is to fully utilize my RTX 2070 Super without ANY bottlenecking at all. So you would say it is worth upgrading from a Ryzen 5 2600?

I seriously appreciate your response. Thank you in advance!

Hi i have same question, only i run 5700xt gpu, will it really jump '10-20fps? Using 1440p monitor
Also i used afterburner in apex legends but it shows cpu usage araund 40 % does somethibg wrong?

It wont jump 10-20fps at 1440p as that tends to be a more gpu dependent resolution. maybe 8fps. not worth it imo. Do be careful of using msi afterburner with rx5700 cards, its been seen to cause problems. If the cpu is at 40% and the gpu near 100%, the gpu is the bottleneck rather then the cpu. You should also look at individual threads to see if there are any threads near the 80-100% mark.
