Here is the long story:
One month ago I began experiencing random system stutters. These stutters would often freeze the system and have the audio buzz for a split second then continue normally. At first, they were infrequent but as time passed they became more noticeable. The system stutters would occur not only during gaming sessions but also while browsing the web, watching YouTube videos, and listening to music at idle.Event Viewer does not report anything wrong during these stutters. While watching the processes list in Task Manager I noticed the process 'System' jumps to the top of the list, however, CPU and Memory usage remain ordinary. The stutters often occur 10 - 15 minutes apart while at desktop but are more frequent from 1 - 2 minutes apart during gaming sessions.
After some searching for solutions, I decided to reinstall my graphics driver with DDU and performed a clean installation since updating through the NVIDIA app did not fix the issue. This seemed to have solved the problem for several weeks until the problem came back today. I have not made any changes to the hardware or updates to drivers/OS since reinstalling the graphics drivers. If anyone has any helpful insights or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!
What I've tried so far:
- Used DDU then installed the latest graphics driver
- Checked for the latest Windows update
- Un-plugged/re-plugged in monitor connections
- Ensured PC was clean of dust/checked thermals
My specs:
- CPU: Intel i9-10850K 3.60GHz
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti
- RAM: 64GB
- System: Windows 11 Home 24H2
- NVIDIA Driver Version: 566.36
