Question Terrible microphone quality

Hi everyone. I hope I'm in the right section for my problem.

My issue is, I have very bad microphone quality when recording audio on my PC. It always sounds poor with static and background noise. Sometimes in skype calls it even makes a loud ticking noise that greatly irritates my friends - haha.

I built the PC on my own and I don't have a separate sound card, i'm just using the built in one on my motherboard - could this be the issue for poor quality? Or have I perhaps assembled the pc badly?

I've had this issue for ages and its very annoying. My microphone is a razer Siren and in the passed i had a Samson meteor, both had the same issue.

Please help :)

Mic noise is either there is a grounding issue with the sound card or mic cables, or you have the gain up too high, mic can be too far from you if it's not directional, you may have the sound options set to bring in system sounds as well.

You can try using an external sound card that isolates it form the computer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P9BN4GR/ref=psdc_3015427011_t5_B00EZT7RE4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EZT7RE4/ref=psdc_3015427011_t1_B07P9BN4GR https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Hea...d=1563379651&s=electronics&sr=1-1-spons&psc=1
