Alright, the guide is now updated with the latest info and fixed the missing images. :wahoo: :bounce:

Still probably need to add the web page version of the software to the guide but beyond that, is there anything else im missing guys?

Also let me know if you like me using spoilers to shorten up the guide a bit for the long sections. To me it allows me to find stuff easier as im not have to scroll though everything in the section to find 1 things.

So far the biggest changes I did was in section 4. Lots of new images, new stuff added, and improved detailed (like i never mentioned about right clicking on the slot and being able to pause individual slots.)

Also add to the FAQ section about overclocking as I know that's come up at least once or twice (with included links to stability software).

Great job.I THANK YOU!!!!!

Thanks warmon6, nice work. It looks like I originally posted my images on imageshack, which I guess no longer has a "free" version. At any rate it is so out of date I probably need to restart. Fortunately things are even easier these days, so if I ever get a little time I should be able to make some new guides.

I used to be an outdoor type. Camping, fishing, hiking, sail boating. Unfortunately, I have MS and its reduced my activities dramatically. I still like driving and checking out the views. Seen some very pretty women while doing that. I've traveled through most of Europe and the US, as well as China. I'd like to get away for a few weeks this summer if I can, maybe head towards Tennessee and the east coast. Either that or go to Hawaii.

In the meantime, I added a GTX1080 to my folding rigs this afternoon. Hope to pick up 400k-500k with that, maybe more. Will see in a few days what it does for my average PPD

My 1070 @ 1929-2012 depending on workunit gets 500K the 1080 should do much better.

I'm not far from Tennessee, and have a vacation rental next door.

If you decide to cruise through this way, I will block out a few nights for you.

I dont know why but i think...

It just hit me but doesn't a OC GTX 1070 get closer to 600K+ PPD?

My 980ti @ 1453 ~ 1470 (depending on temps and WU) gets around the 600K PPD and i though that both cards performed pretty similar...

Maybe I've been out of the F@H loop for longer than I thought.

Has anyone seen any AMD Ryzen folding numbers yet? I know GPUs still rule the roost, but with 8 cores and 16 threads, I am curious what sort of PPD they would put out. Daddy google has yet to satisfy my curiosity thus far.

So i've noticed something interesting today between google chrome and while folding on the gpu...

Not sure if it's and issue with a newer update for chrome, the recent nvidia driver, or it been there for a while and i'm just now noticing it but when i was folding on my gpu and watching a simple video, my gpu dropped to base frequency while folding.

It seems while GPU folding, having Google Chrome GPU acceleration turned on, and watching a video on chrome causes this. The frequency drops the moment i play the video and picks back up after i stop it. That spike after that was google chrome restarting with gpu acceleration disabled. Disabling it seemed to of stop it and video's plays now without the gpu dropping to base frequency.

Only noticed it when i saw the displayed PPD being around that 400K ppd range. In the past if I did the same thing, the PPD would drop but it would be in the 550 to 575K ppd.

Has anyone else seen this behavior before or is this something new?

Thanks! If I manage to put together a Ryzen server eventually, it should make for a nice PPD boost, at least with A7 WUs.

I know this is like comparing apples to oranges, but ever since I started undervolting my R9 290s slightly, every time I sit down at my desk and move the mouse, my GPU fans spin down and if I'm watching in GPU-Z they drop to base clock for a few seconds. It doesn't seem to hit my PPD that much but it's really weird. I generally turn off GPU folding for videos and always for games. (Gaming, when I've got time for it, is what dips my PPD way down some days)

Well I've finally gotten around to adding the NaCl (web) client to our guide.

Nice thing about the client i like it that is very simple for someone new to run it (as long as they're using google chrome).

Just liking on the web link http://fahwebx.stanford.edu/nacl/?team=40051, enter username, and password then they're already folding.

Team Number is already embedded in the url so the user doesn't even have to enter it. They'll start folding for us immanently. (thanks to the F@H support forum post mentioning about that ability.)

Team URLs
You can now recruit team members with URLs like this: http://folding.stanford.edu/nacl/?team=1234. If the user does not already have a team then it will set their team automatically. If they do have a team set then it will ask them first.

Alo folks. Stopped by here for the first time in a couple years. Seems that the community is much the same except for a new (old?) sailor. May contribute if I get hands on some hardware, but I'm laptop only these days so it may be tough.

Just run the GPU client. That i3 isn't going to do much anyway. Maybe clean out the inside of your PC.
